Advantages: Tastes authentic and good
Disadvantages: none really
I'm a bit of a junk food fanatic, I know fine well its not the best so why I keep asking myself do I keep purchasing a MacDonalds Cheeseburger with fries. I'm not a big fan of gherkin so I always remove that first Well the answer is pretty simple really I like them, they're tasty fill a small hole and they aren't too expensive. I have however found a cheaper alternative, which tastes similar well it is advertised to taste like a cheesburger being that the product is of course Walkers MAX Cheeseburger.
The packet costs in the region of 60p and contains a lot more crisps than your standard 50g pack. The crisps themselves are both crispy and ridged and pretty much uniform in shape and size. They are a light golden colour with some seriously darker shades, which are almost orange. It's the smell however that's gets the old juices going, it kicks of all the senses and the anticipation creeps in.
Every crisp tastes a bit different so I reckon there are actually a few different flavours in this packet which when combined create the full cheesburger taste. The first crisp I tasted was very similar to tomato ketchup flavour whilst the next was definitely cheese and some kind of meat. The third distinctive flavour I got was that of the gherkin, not too strong just a hint, the same strength as I get on my MacDonalds once I removed the gherkin.
So one there own they are pretty nice crisps, but take two or three at once and the combinations that are created give the impression that you actually are having a rather crispy cheeseburger. They aren't warm or hot obviously but they are quite nice. The gherkin bit is not quite to my liking but it is something I'm used to whilst having my normal burger, so it does add that hint of realism.
I think these crisps are great value and I do belive a lot of kids out there are going to like these, and most probably quite a few grown ups. I thought at my age I was passed by being surprised by crisps and other eateries, but I found myself amused at the thought of a cheeseburger crisp and found myself pleasantly surprised at how close Walkers have got to creating some authenticity. A must try crisp for any burger fan.
Summary: A novelty perhaps, but a nice one
