Advantages: Strong Flavour
Disadvantages: Smell lingers on you after eating
Monster munch crisps used to be very popular but I feel in recent years they have started to decline in popularity somewhat. Due to this the makers (Walkers) seem to constantly be trying to change things in order to improve this situation.
The packs are now bigger and on the front it has the word "new" crossed out and it has been replaced with "old! Bigger like they used to be!" There is a star next to this statement which shows them compared to the size that was sold in 1977! Now I don't remember them from 1977 as I wasn't alive then so I can't comment but they are definately bigger than they have been in recent years.
The crisps are very crunchy and look like animal paws, they are circular in shape and have a hole in them with 4 bits coming off them like fingers. You can buy them in three different flavours, they are pickled onion, flamin' hot and roast beef. I find that the taste is very strong in these crisps which is one of the main reasons I like them so much. This might put some people off though as it does smell quite strong on your breath for some time after.
The pack contains 40g which I like as many other crisps only contain 30g or 35g. The pack also contains a staggering 196 Calories, which I thought was quite a lot and again might put people off. It doesn't bother me though!
The pack seems to be marketed to children as there is a large cartoon monster on the front that children would like. As I am a big kid at heart I also like these cartoon monsters as I feel it makes the packs stand out when I am in a newsagents picking what crisp I want.
I noticed that in the last pack I ate I got 20 crisps in there...as these are quite large I thought that was reasonable. The pack describes them as "Huge chunks." They are also described as baked corn snacks, this means they have that "puffed" look.
To add to the strong taste is of course the strong smell. When you open the pack this instantly hits you but I find this to be most obvious on the pickled onion pack.
If you are a crisp lover then why not give these a try? They are often on offer and a multipack of 6 retails for around £1.20 in most supermarkets.
Summary: Strong tasting crisp
