Today I am reviewing one of my favourite crisps of all time - Pickled Onion flavour Monster Munch! We have a relationship going back many years, and I keep this relationship fresh and alive by giving these crisps a place in my stomach on the odd occasion rather than receiving them repeatedly until we both get bored and tired of each other.
They now come in a retro purple bag (like the old days!) which has a picture of a pretty stupid cartoon Monster on it, supposed to cater to the young crowd but those of us who had them as a child are no doubt attracted to them also. They are made by crisp giant Walkers (used to be made by Smiths, who Walkers took over) and come in single packets, or in multipacks.
A bag will currently cost you 47p in Tesco, and come in a few select flavours including Beef and Flaming Hot. Pickled Onion is my ultimate favourite flavour, and is mouth wateringly tangy. I salivate just thinking about these crisps sometimes!
The crisps themselves are shaped like a monsters foot, which apparently is a round circle and has four thick toes (useful to know when you are in a scary forest and wondering whose tracks you can see on the ground!). They are made of light crispy maize and make a wonderful crunching sound as you bite into them. The flavour on these crisps is fantastic, and you can really taste the tangy, sour pickled onion flavour. As they are light, they are easy to eat, and are very satisfying....
The packet informs you that they have gone back to the old style of the crisps being larger than they have been in modern days. This is good as the challenge of these crisps had always been getting them in your mouth and having a mouth full of crunchy fun.
I'm not gonna bother talking about nutrition, as everyone knows crisps are generally unhealthy. So eat in moderation, people!
I love these crisps, and I hope they'll be around forever!!
Summary: A crunchy fun crispy snack from Walkers!
