Walkers Monster Munch
Advantages: great for kids, fun shapes, tangy flavours, colourful packaging
Disadvantages: more aimed towards children
Monster much have been around for years, I remember eating them in my childhood and I used to love them. I recently saw the multipack on offer in Asda and decided to give them a try agan.
The multipack I purchased came with 6 packets of crisps in them, consisting of three flavours - the classic Pickled Onion, and then two other flavours that I cant remember eating when I was younger, Beed and Flaming Hot. The packets come in bright colours and feature a monster on the front of each pack. At some point the crisp and brand must have gone through a change as the packets now state 'OLD! Bigger like they used to be!' I do find the crisps to be too big however, and find them quite difficult to eat - I cant imagine how children must struggle to fit them in their mouths - they must make quite a mess!
The crisps themselves are made of baked corn - I can remember when I was younger I used to love these kind of crisps, monster munch, chip sticks, space invaders etc - but now I dont like them as much, I prefer crisps which have a bit more to them such as Kettle Crisps. The flavour doesnt seem to be all I remember it to be either - not as strong and as tasty - but I find a lot of crisps to be like that now, maybe its because they all contain less artificial nasties so they're better for us. Saying that the flavour of monster munch is quite strong and tangy.
It doesnt say anywhere on the packet how many grams are in a multipack bag, but the nutritional value per multipack is as follows:
Calories - 109
Protein - 1.3g
Carbohydrates - 13.2g
Fat - 55g
Fibre - 0.4g
Sodium - 0.13g
Overall these are an OK crisp but not really my cup of tea anymore - I can see why they appealed to me as a child and to children today, but I find now I like a crisp with a bit more to it.
Summary: a great crisp for the kids!
