Favourite Cheesy Crisps!
Member Name: alfiepeaches
Advantages: light, but filling, unique, satisfying cheesy taste
Disadvantages: cheesy breath afterwards, sometimes need two packs to fill huger! low calory count
Quavers are probably my most favourite type of crisps, there are many rip off brands but none live up to the quality taste of Walkers Quavers.
The packet bright yellow, which makes is stand out against other packets of crisps and is made of the usual foil material. The quaver inside are like curled potato shapes that are very unique from other crisps and a nice size to eat. I imagine they are very good crisps for small children as their hands can get an easy grip on them. The quavers are light orangey yellow in colour (they used to be a light yellow but the flavour and ingredients would have changed over the years) with tiny orange speckles. The majority of the packet keeps their shape and even when crushed they don't turn into to a huge mass of crumbs that are difficult to eat.
When you open a packet of Quavers you are greeted with a really savoury cheesy smell without being too overpowering which makes my mouth wate! The taste of Quavers is perfect in my opinion. They have a clear cheesy taste but mixed with the saltiness that crisps have. The taste fills your whole mouth and you never get a sore mouth from eating them like you can with some spiced flavoured crisps. The quavers have a satisfying crunch when eating them but can easily be sucked and softened before swallowing when little kids are eating them. You get left with a lovely aftertaste but I do find after eating them I get smelly, cheesy breath that lingers for a little while. If I know I'm going to be eating these, I make sure I have some mints in my bag to get rid of the cheese smell! You don't get anything stuck in your teeth though like Wotsits can.
A problem I find with quavers is there never seem to be enough in the bag! I often find myself being a bit piggy and eating two at a time if I'm feeling particularly peckish, but they do well as a small, light but filling snack too. I never feel bad about eating two packets as one packet only contains 88calories (obviously don't just follow calories for a diet and assume they are the best but the rest of the health guide is one of the lowest compared to most other crisps too). Although I find the portions inside too small, they would be perfect as a snack or part of a lunch for a healthy packed lunch for kids.
Quavers always seem to be on some sort of offer in large packs somewhere or other so I suggest you shop around, we nearly always have a pack in the cupboard for my lunch or quick snacks.
Summary: i love quavers!
