Advantages: Tasty, wholegrain
Disadvantages: They run out
I recently came across Walkers Sunbite's when they were on offer at a local supermarket. They cost £1 for 6 individual packets and wanting to keep my shopping price low i opted to give them a try. There were a selection of flavours to choose from but I am a chilli fiend and therefore decided to try the sun ripened sweet chilli flavour.
The individual packets are a pinky salmon sort of colour and look a lot different to the stand walkers packets. The walkers logo is in the top left corner, small but visible and the word 'SUNBITES' is displayed across the centre of the packet clearly. There is a photo of the crisps and a couple of chillies underneath this, just in case for some reason you have no idea what a chilli looks like :P They have some wording underneath that says ' Tiny moments of extraordinary pleasure'. Also on the bottom of the packet is nutritional information and for those interested :
Calories 120
Sugar 2.4g
Fat 5.4g
Saturates: 0.6g
Salt: 0.17g
All of these are pretty low compared to your average packet of crisps and along with the flavour, this makes me a happy girl!
The crisps themselves look visually different to any that I have come across before. They are 67% wholegrain so have a browny grain look to them, and admittedly i was a bit sceptical on the appearance at first. The crisps are a square shape and have a rippled effect to them.
When I decided to go for it and taste them I was pleasantly surprised, there was a lot of flavour and could definitely taste the sweet chilli. It wasn't over powering or the sort of chilli that stings the taste-buds but it was pleasant and moreish. I have not tried the other flavours as of yet but if they all have as much flavour as these I will be impressed!
Overall I really like these crisps, they don't get boring, or at least not for me anyway and have repurchased them a couple of times. Great for a light snack, or to have in a lunchbox. I would even recommend them as a 'healthier' crisp option for children should they need any.
Give them a go and let me know what you think, or any similar options.
Summary: A simple tasty crisp.
