Expected more than I found inside the pastry as my wrapper said "Full of Filling". I estimate this was about 1/4 full, the rest of the pastry occupied by air. The pastry was better than some, but the filling certainly wasn't full of flavour. I always prefer pastries cold, but it tasted like old cheese that had been melted, processed and allowed to cool - I guess that's exactly what it was. I sometimes wonder why I ever buy anything other than pork pies and sausage rolls which are more difficult to get wrong.I regret eating it now.By the way the "contact us" form on the Walls website replies with "Please enter a valid enquiry" when you try to use it.
I was out shopping, and I suddenly felt the urge to eat something covered with pastry. I didn't care whether it was pastry, slice or sausage roll, I just really wanted one. So I wandered into wikinsons, as they tend to be cheaper. At £1.09, it is quite cheap, so you shouldn't expect to have the best pastry in the world.
I ate this cold because I was very impatient and I just wanted to eat it, but you can eat it either hot or cold. I also didn't eat it from the oven because, I have a very big oven and it takes ages to heat up, and I didn't want to put it in the microwave because the pastry tends to go all sloppy and not very nice.
On the packaging it says that walls pastries are 'full of filling'. In one way this was true, as there was sause all the way through, and at no point was there any dry pastry. However, because of what the slice was it wasn't completely full up. For instance they could have done with putting some potato in it, just to bulk it up a bit.
To the filling, the cheese was made into a 'creamy' sauce. To me it felt a bit lumpy, but that may have been because I didn't heat it up. There were occaisonal pieces of ham in this product, but not that much. What ham there was, it didn't really taste of anything, it didn't bring anything to the product, just a bit of texture. Another thing, on the packaging it says that it contains a hint of mwhole grain mustard. The one little pocket of mustard I got to I (thankfully) couldn't taste.

Overall, I think I would reccomend this product for a light snack, but not as a proper dinner. It is not filling and it doesn't leave you with a taste for another one. Dont avoid it, but dont go out of your way to buy one.
I went round to the shop last night to look for something quick I could cook, he doesn't have a lot of choice so I brought a Walls Ham And Cheese Slice. It was £1.99 but this shop is a bit dear so they'll probably be cheaper in the bigger shops.
It takes 20 mins to cook in the oven but you can also nuke it, I've had these pastry things done in the microwave before though and don't like how flat and stodgy the pastry goes so I did mine in the oven.
When it was cooked I tucked straight in and wasn't impressed at all, especially for how expensive it had been. The pastry hasn't got much flavour and even though it's gone nice and flakey I thought it was proper boring.
The cheese and ham filling is very bland as well. It's hardly cheesey at all and has got a lumpy and mega thick texture, I thought the cheese was a bit sticky as well and it all clumped in the middle of the slice so the ends were pure dry pastry. I thought the whole thing was very dry and bland actually and probably only ate half of it if you work out how much of the ends and top of the pastry I left on the plate.
I could taste the ham in it a bit but it tasted proper fake and nothing like real meat, there are bits of ham mixed in with the cheese but they felt very synthetic in my mouth and not very nice.
I had some bbq sauce on the plate and that made it a bit more interesting but the slice was so boring that I could only taste the sauce on some of the pieces I cut off and that spoiled it because something in the cheese made the bbq sauce taste mega vinegary.
I felt ripped off after I paid so much for this boring slice, I'll never buy another one and will stick to the cheaper but tastier Tesco ones!
