Advantages: Soft, long lasting, perfect for toast and sandwiches.

Disadvantages: Expensive

I have been using Warburtons Toastie Thick Sliced White bread for years now and absolutely love it, in fact I blame Warburtons for me being addicted to toast! Warburtons have been making bread since 1876 so they must be doing something right.

Warburtons Toastie bread isn't just for toast, their bread is great for sandwiches too. As it is so thick it is great for filling you up when you are hungry. I believe it is the softest bread ever.

At £1.29 it is expensive for a loaf of bread and recently with the credit crunch I decided to try out different lower priced brands of bread. I discovered that no other bread came close to matching the soft, thickness and freshness of Warbutons. Other breads to me were smaller slices, dry and not as long lasting. Even my 5yr old and 8yr old children noticed the difference. They kept complaining they didn't like the bread I was giving them for toast and sandwiches. Some breads I tried would be ok for sandwiches but were useless for toast and others good for toast but not sandwiches. Warburtons is great for both. After a couple of months of trying out other breads I have reverted back to Warburtons and I have two happy children again.

The slices are bigger than the average size you would get in other loaves. They are rectangular in shape. One thing I find is that not all Warburtons loaves have the same size of slices, some are slightly more square, others are a bit narrower but longer. The longer ones don't quite fit in my toaster and I sometimes have to cut the crust off along the top of the bread to fit the slice in, a bit annoying as I love the bread so much I don't want to waste even the slightest part of it.

Although I feel this bread is very expensive I am still going to give it a 5 star rating as it is a case of you get what you pay for and in this case you are paying for top quality bread that keeps fresh for longer. It is suitable for home freezing which I do every week so I always have some in the house. Suitable for Vegetarians too. Warburtons Toastie loaf is easy to spot on the shelf at the supermarket, just look out for the orange and white packaging.

I am going to finish of with a quote from Jonathan Warburton:

"The ingredients that make this loaf special are - over 130 years of tradition, five generations of heritage, tonnes of quality and a touch of Warburtons magic."

Summary: Wonderfully soft bread created by Warburtons.
