“ Brand: Weight Watchers / Type: Snacks „
I bought a packet of six bags of Weight Watchers Cheese and Red Onion Rice Sticks from Poundland as they were about half the price as in Tesco. I was enticed by the fact that they had just 83 calories in each bag, almost half of a standard packet of crisps.
On opening them you get a strong smell of cheese and onion, yummy. The sticks are various lengths and a bit curvy and nobbly - kinda like twiglets. They are covered in a powdery flavouring which tends to settle in the bottom of the bag. They are quite crunchy too which I like, something to do with the puffed rice I suppose. However the taste is a bit too strong for me, they don't really taste cheesy, just oniony with a strange aftertaste...
If you can get them at a good price they are certainly worth buying as they are the healthy alternative and have lots of taste. The packaging is quite eye-catching with a photograph of the sticks on the front and all the nutritional information is well displayed. There's also information about joining Weight Watchers, should you wish to, on the rear of the packet.
There's quite a lot of sticks in the bag and they do take a bit longer to eat than normal crisps but there are other Weight Watchers snacks I would prefer to eat to these. Being on a diet doesn't mean you have to go without crisps, you just need to find ones which are lower in fat and calories.
Back again with a different type of WeightWatchers crisp, this time these are the "Mature Cheese & Red Onion Flavoured Rice Sticks", honestly I didn't realize that they did so many different types of snacks.
These come in a slightly bigger bag than the Tortillas weighing in at 20g each. When I opened these I noticed a very strong cheesey smell , on pouring into the bowl the first thought that came into my head was Walkers "French Fries" which I don't really like.
Now these are long thin ( about an inch and a half!) slightly curved rice sticks. These are very oniony when popped into your mouth, and have a light crispy bubbly texture to them, can't say that I notice the mature cheese taste, although it must be in here as I can smell it in the bag!.
They seem to have a slight coating to them in a powder form and reminds me from the taste, of the bags of Onion Rings that you can buy in the party bag size!
You get a fair few in this bag ( to many to count!), in fact to many for my liking, as these are not my cup of tea. I'm not keen on really false flavours on things and to me these are just that. Having said that some people may enjoy these as I know my Daughter loves these, so I suppose it's everyones own personal taste.
Again I purchased these from Poundland, so saved a few pennies in there. Each bag contains;
~~~of which sugars 1.0g~~~
~~~of which sats 0.2g~~~
~~~Equiv Salt 0.4g~~~
Contains only 1 WeightWatchers point if following the WeightWatchers Diet.
Also contain Milk, Gluten, Wheat, Barley and Mustard Seeds. Suitable for vegetarians.
I'm a bit disappointed that I don't like these, as it would be nice to have a change from time to time. So if you like Walkers Fench Fries then you are on to a winner with these as they are so similiar in looks and texture.
I can only give it 3 stars as it's not fair for me to rate it down just because I don't like them, as many others might.
