What is it with these weightwatchers tortillas having different effects on people? A few weeks ago I was having a conversation with my friends about which weight watchers products were nice and which ones were just plain bland and every single one of my friends said that the tortilla crisps were just plain awful. My friends actually thought that the cheese puff variety was better and that was saying something considering they were extremely bland in my opinion.
On a recent trip to pound land I seen these crisps available along with the cheese puff variety (I obviously didn't know the cheese puffs were so bland at the time) and I decided I would give the chilli crisps a go for the sake of a quid.
I purchased the tortilla crisps in a multipack bag of five packets of crisps.
The packaging for the crisps is an off orange colour and they have the picture of tortilla crisps on the front. I must admit packaging wise these look a lot better than some of the other weightwatchers crisps available.
I was quite surprised to see that you do get a good few tortilla crisps in the bag for 1 point's value. I wasn't too eager about them as I don't like spicy and since they are hot spicy flavoured I was a bit dubious but I could remember my friends saying that they weren't spicy at all.
The crisps are nice and crunchy and unbelievably very tasty. I was surprised that the flavouring was actually really nice, you can taste the chilli and it gives a nice hit but not too spicy. I will say that the crisps don't seem to be coated evenly though as one can be very mild and on the verge of being bland and the other can be quite a bit spicy.
Overall I consider these to be one of the best crisps IV tasted by weightwatchers considering they are low fat they are very crunchy and tasty and I would definitely recommend.
BEing back on my Diet again, which isn't much fun, i've been looking for some inspiration for my food, and since I tend to snack a bit, then it is things like Crisps and Cereal Bars I am stocking up on. I picked up a 6 pack of these when they were on offer in Asda of 2 6 bag packs of Weight Watchers snacks for £3, which was a little saving from the normal £1.98 per 6 pack.
I hate that the low fat, low calorie food is always so much more expensive than junk, but nothing I can do about that. No wonder people can find it expensive on a diet!
These are in 18g bags and each bag has 77 calories and 0.3g saturated fat. Looks good from the figures, but i'm sure you would think that 18g of weight doesn't get you much to eat.
The bag is about half full, or half empty depending how you want to look at it. The Crisps are alright though. They are crispy, quite thin and crunchy Tortilla's. There isn't loads of flavouring on these, and some seem tastier than others. I would say these have a slight heat to them, but not too hot a Chilli.
I think these are worth a try, as you don't think that they are diet food. Fair enough the portion size may give it away, but the taste, texture and flavouring of these is lovely, and I would reach for a bag even if I wasn't on a diet.
Perhaps not in the same league as Dorito's, but a good diet alternative.
Monday morning and back on the healthy eating, so at the weekend I made sure that I stocked up on the WeightWatchers Snacks. No I haven't won the lottery, just managed to grab a few packs while in Poundland, this makes them almost half price compared to Morrisons and Tesco's.
If I decide to eat a bag of crisps, I usually go for Tortillas with a bit of spice, as I like to get that feeling of tingling and feeling like you have just eaten something!.
Now these WeightWatchers crisps are "Hot Chilli Flavour Tortillas", they come in a pack of 6 and look quite a reasonable sized bag. Now I'm not fooled by how much less the calories are as you only get 18g's in each bag compared to a normal bag which on average holds 25/30g's. What I like about these is that although you only get about 14 ( yes! I did count them!) tortillas, it is enough for a light snack with your soup or sandwich.
These have quite a strong smell when you open the bag and when you pour them out you will see triangle curly tortillas. They are a golden colour, with the Chilli powder deeper on some more than others, giving those ones a very orangey colour. On putting one into your mouth you will notice that they are very crispy and if it is one of the tortillas thats had a good dose of chilli it will taste quite strong, but on average the chilli taste is quite mild and I would not have called them "Hot Chilli" just "Chilli" would have been more suitable for the flavour of these.
Don't get me wrong these are really nice, but for my personal view I like things a bit more spiced up. It is nice to be able to eat these when following a healthy diet as you don't feel like you are being restricted from eating anything nice.
These corn chips are as stated earlier in 18g bags and contain;
~~~of which sugars 0.2g~~~
~~~of which sats 0.3g~~~
~~~Equiv salt 0.4g~~~
These have 1 WeightWatchers Point per bag. These contain no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives. Also suitable for vegetarians, but does contain Wheat-Gluten and is made in a factory where Sesame Seeds, Nuts and Peanuts are handled.
So if you are watching your weight and enjoy the odd bag of Tortillas then these are definitely worth a try and remember to buy them from Poundland.
4 stars I would give 5 if they spiced them up a bit more evenly!
