In my browse through Home Bargains this week, I picked up a bag of six Weight Watchers Hula Hoops for 99p.
I can't imagine anyone having not heard of weight watchers, whose current campaign show Patsy Kensit and Gregg Wallace and with the banner stating that people lose 5x more weight with weight watchers than going it alone. They currently offer a contract free with no join in free approach, so just paying for the meetings.
I am currently trying to lose weight, however despite WW's slogan, I am "going it alone" and trying to lose weight by sensible eating and reducing my snacking which is my main issue.
So when I saw these hulas at 75 calories, i thought they were worth a go. I picked up the salt and vinegar flavoured version. They were fairly uninspring packaging of a field with a blue sky with giant hulas. I didn't see any other flavoured however there was also cheesy puffs.
In the same range you can purchase sweet chilli / salt and vinegar / cheese and onion crinkles, salt and black pepper tortillas, nacho cheese, cheese flavour bites, ready salted hulas.
The packaging states that they are
Manufactured in a factory that handles Gluten, Milk and Soya.
Suitable for: vegetarians.
Also that they are 2 propoints.
So what did I think... I'll be honest, they didn't taste anywhere as nice as proper hula hoops, they taste cardboardy and not as crunchy as I would like. They are decidedly average as a crisp and I think I'd rather have a few more calories and a much nicer snack.
Im awarding then a 3 doo yoo stars as 2.5 isn't an option, although I will be eating the rest with a nice glass of wine.
