Recently I own some John Lewis vouchers in a raffle, £20 worth . It's not somewhere I'd normally shop, being in general quite a pricey shop, but I decided to buy a small present for my fella with the vouchers, part of which was this soap in a case, costing £12.50.
The soap comes in a sleek looking octagonal case, black, with the word aramis etched into the top . I have to say Aramis is not a brand I've heard of before, but from what I gather, it is a range of products for men, by Estee Lauder, and the case is certainly very masculine looking with it's chunky shape and sleek straight lines . No fuss, no faff, just a strong masculine design .
The soap is the same shape as the case - which makes a lot of sense really. It's a kind of pale orange colour, and despite following the chunky octagonal design of the case, doesn't really look like much . It is, after all , just a bar of soap, albeit an expensive posh one .
It's the scent I adore about this though. It's mainly my boyfriend that uses this, as it's his present, but I have nicked it to use in the bath, and I must say it lathers up wonderfully, releasing a lovely deep rich scent, as complex and multilayered as a perfume.
Strong citrus notes from the Bergamot are the first thing to hit, which I love, as I always find citrus scents make me feel more wide awake . Along with this is some spiciness - something almost peppery that kicks into your nostrils, combined with the earthy scent of sage. The smell lingers on your skin long after use - clean, yet rich and earthy, I love the smell of my boyfriend after he uses this . This also seems to be fairly gentle on skin, although it does dry my boyfriend out a little bit .
This was a lovely buy with my vouchers - a soap that smells incredibly sexy and masculine, with a handy storage case to match. I don't think I would buy this again for everyday use, as I feel £12.50 for a bar of soap, even one that smells great and comes with its own case, is a lot of money. I do however think I would buy a couple of bars as gifts throughout the year, for my boyfriend, and I think this is a 4 star bar.
One star off for it being slightly drying on skin and very expensive .
This classic scent from Aramis is a blend of bergamot, citrus and patchouli with base notes of sage, sandalwood and leather /
