Advantages: Cheap, nice packaging
Disadvantages: Dried my skin out and I couldn't shave with it in fear of lopping off my own body parts
When it comes to buying soap I'm sure I'm addicted! I don't know why but it's something I buy loads of and I have loads on the go in my bathroom at the minute! lol.
In the shower I like to use shower gel and stuff like that but when I have a bath my preference seems to be soap for some odd reason. Maybe I'm an old fashioned girl at heart lol. So usually in the bath I use nice scented bath foam and a baby or unperfumed soap. However in Asda a couple of weeks back I saw this costing 41p a bar and as I love the fresh smell of coconuts and I equate it to being kind and gentle to skin I decided to give it a go as it seemed a bargain and smelt rather nice through it's paper packet!
Light beige oblong paper packet which is shiny on the outside of it.In light beige and brown writing on the front I'm told it's Asda Essential Care 'With Natural Extracts Of Coconut' Moisturising Coconut Soap Enriched With Vitamin E and there's a a drawing of a small cut open coconut on there. On each side of the packet I'm again told what it is and the same picture of coconut is on each side then on the back I'm told a bit about the product, ingredients ad cautions are listed, size is stated (125g), I'm told Asda is against animal testing and funds research into alternatives, I'm given contact details for Asda and a guarantee of liking this product is given from the store (or you get a refund) and finally there is a bar-code on there. Nice enough packaging and it doesn't look as cheap as it costs actually as it's all colour co-ordinating and smart.
A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Packet....
Gently cleanses skin helping to leave it silky soft and smooth. Contains natural extract of Coconut renowned for its moisturising properties. Enriched with Vitamin E for added moisturising benefits. Luxurious fragrance. Suitable for vegetarians.
Well the soap itself is oblong and pure white and rounded off at the edges with a curve to the centre of it's body (for ease of use). Engraved into the top of the soap lightly are the words' Moisturising With Vitamin E'. It's plain to look at but nice enough.
Smell wise, yes it smells of Coconut but is rather oddly sweet and therefore doesn't smell as natural as I had expected it to and really it isn't my cup of tea.
Using it is difficult I found that it didn't lather up on my skin very well at all (in the bath or in the shower) and I used it directly onto damp, wet skin. I did get some rather disappointing white lather (not much mostly soap liquid)and certainly not enough to shave any bits and bobs with and it felt as I was using it that it was drying my skin out quite a bit. Also it's hard not to drop this so I wouldn't advise you to use it in the shower! I have a bruise on my foot from this! It slips all the time out of the hands and boy it is heavy!
Rinsing it off was easy enough and when I dried myself my skin felt quite dry to the touch and I felt like I hadn't rinsed all of the soap off my body properly yet I'm really sure I did (both times). Skin felt tight and I even felt slightly itchy.
The smell didn't linger in my bathroom or on me and although I felt clean enough I felt dried up and not all that fresh.
I would say this is best off as a hand soap or for people with really, really greasy skin. My skin is combination and both times I used it my skin felt dry and not as smooth as usual at all and I had to moisturise my skin.
Not particularly recommended it's ok and it does clean but really...it gives no skin benefits as promised and I'd even argue the point with Asda that this is not luxurious! Not at all is it lol.
Only available in Asda stores.
Summary: Not great!
