This soap was bought for me as a gift from my daughter and it is definitely not something that I would normally buy for myself as it is very expensive at £15!
So what do you get for £15? You certainly don't get a bar of gold that's for sure but it is extremely good quality and I do like it a lot.
The soap is long and rounded with the Clinique logo engraved on it. After time though this logo does fade so to anybody it just looks like an ordinary soap so if you are after something with a designer tag on it this may not be for you as this designer tag fades.
The soap is a honey colour and sits in it's own soap dish which has a lid too. The lid you can put onto the soap and it seals it shut, I don't actually see the every day use of this lid to be honest, I don't see why you would want to put a lid over it if it just sits beside your sink. I have used the lid when I took this on holiday with me so it made transporting it easier but I still don't really think that this warrants the hefty price tag that comes with this soap!
It smells fresh but with no specific flavours coming through, it's not a strong smell so it won't stay with you all day which is what I like.
The soap is very hard but it does come off in your hands if your hands are slightly wet and you run them over this it will give you enough on your hands to wash your face. The point of this soap is to be used for your face as it's a 'facial soap' however you can use it for anywhere on your body. The reason for it being called a facial soap is because it is very mild and gentle so very good for sensitive skin.
It doesn't lather up a lot actually even when you have a lot of water along with the soap but I think that this is because it is a gentle soap which is meant for the face so it doesn't create lots of bubbles which makes it easier for you to rinse your face clean afterwards.
After using this I do feel like my face is nicely washed and it has a little shine to it. It is very smooth and i feel better for using it. The smell is only very faint so it's just perfect for me as I don't like pungent things.
I have given it 4 stars because it does wash well and it is nice how it comes with a soap dish too as it fits in it perfectly. It is definitely a one off soap as it's so expensive! It works well on the skin and is gentle. You can use it for any part of your body not just your face.
I have knocked one star off for the massive cost of this item.
I began using Clinique Liquid Mild Facial Soap when i first became a firm believer in Clinique products, especially their 3 step skincare system. However last year i had an allergic reaction to a food, which left my skin irritated and red. I was forced to look for the mildest cleanser on the market, and decided to stick with my favorite brand (clinique). I did not know that clinique offered an 'extra' mild cleanser, and therefore i was ecstatic when i came across it. The product costs a very worth-it £ 11.74 (approximately) for a bar.
The packaging is Cliniques signature clean green shade that looks as calm and gentle as the product itself. The bar makes it easy to bring this little soap around on vacation and the container is cute as well. I sometimes opt for the soap bar over the liquid version because it is usually cheaper. Having sensitive skin naturally i needed a product that wouldnt irritate it, cause breakouts, or dry it out like many other facial cleansers i have used in the past. However i still needed a product strong enough to clean deep down in the pores to keep my skin glowing and healthy without breakouts.
This cleanser promised to be mild and gentle, non-comodegenic (non- pore clogging),and will not dry skin out or irritate the most sensitive skin types. I was very intrigued by this promise and was determined to try this for myself after the lady at the clinique counter had fully sold me the entire 3 step skincare system and afew cosmetics to top it all off and blow a nice sized hole in my wallet. I was pleased that the mild cleanser did as it promised by providing the gentlest cleansing possible while still cleaning deep down into my pores.
The only downside to this product is that is does not remove make-up, which makes it a slight inconvenience. You have to fully remove all your make-up using a facial wash or eye make-up remover before using the mild facial soap. Once you have fully cleansed off your make-up, you can then rub the soap in your hands to get a lather and to warm it before applying it to your face in a circular motion. I like to begin by using warm water on my face to enlarge my pores to ensure deeper cleaning and better effectiveness when you use the cleanser.
The product is light and you only need a little bit for your whole face and it will produce the most delightful suds that actually feel like when you rub it over your skin because it is so
gentle. And because you only need a small bit, this product lasts quite a long time. An added benefit is that it actually smells really light and fresh, like a crisp clean tub of laundry drying in a spring breeze (thats the best way i can describe it). Therefore nothing about this product is irritating, rather it is a pleasurable experience that feels like a relaxing and rejuvenating spa treatment for your face.
The product rinses off effortlessly in an instant, that is another thing i really love about this product, no scrubbing required! It rinses off so cleanly and doesn't leave any residue behind on your skin. Once you have completely rinsed the product off, your skin feels so incredibly soft, smooth and clean. I love the feeling of my skin right after i dry my face because it is not the least bit irritated or dry, rather it feels moist, soft, smooth and comfortable. I then proceed with the rest of the 3 step skincare system which includes the clarifying toner and dramatically different moisturizing lotion. Also, for the best results use the product or the 3 step system twice daily for optimal skin benefits.
I definately recommend this product for anyone of any age, and skin type. The product is so gentle and effective that it will practically work for anyone, however it is best to use it in conjunction with the 3 step skincare system and speak to the clinique consultant for the cleanser thats best for your age, and skin type.
Recently I found that my skin was getting irritated due to the medicated products id been using to help prevent spots, resulting in my skin looked very red and making spots appear worse not better.
I was annoyed about this but didnt want to go out and buy another cleanser again. But then while tidying my room I found a little miracle in a green box.
It was a travel sized clinque soap extra mild, which id had free when I purchased some other clinque products a while ago. The little box it is contained is really great. It is basically a soap dish with a lid. The soap slides out of the box and underneath is a raised surface so it doesnt move around. This would be really useful for travelling so that your soap doesnt mess your bag. It is useful in the house aswell to stop other people using it by mistake and not having it sticking to the sink.
The soap itself is white, 7cm x 3cm and according to clinque fragrance free, worryingly if I smelt hard I could smell cheese, its very faint though!
I realise it is a little soap but I feel it would last a good month of using it twice a day.
It lathers up very well with water and leaves my skin literally squeaky clean, I was very impressed! Now clinque make 3 kinds of soap, extra mild, mild and oily. According to their skin analysis online on their website www.clinique.co.uk I should be using the oily soap but this extra mild one fully cleaned and removed oil without leaving my skin dry or irritated. After 2 days of using it now my face's redness has gone down a lot.
I cannot say a bad thing about this soap, well except that I found out the cost of a 100g bar is 9.50 from the clinique website. Although looking at the adverts on this page I can see thats cheaper than strawberry.net. Still its very expensive for a soap, so i dont know if I'll be buying the large version.
