This is a review of Cussons Mum & Me New Mum Cleanse & Protect Hand Gel which I bought recently as I always like to have some hand gel in my bag for when I want to clean my hands and can't easily get to soap and water. I have been working my way through the mum & me range as I have really liked all the products so far so I usually put one in the basket every time I am in Boots to try something new.
The hand gel is packaged in the Cussons Mum & Me orange accented packaging and is described as being for a 'new mum'. The bottle is clear plastic and the lid has a push top opening so you can squeeze out a little of the product. The bottle is small, only containing 50ml so is ideal for a handbag or in my case a baby change bag.
You only need a small amount of this hand gel to cover all your hands, and it squeezes easily from the tube, then dries almost as soon as you have rubbed it all over your hands. Importantly, I think is the smell of this hand rub. You can definitely smell the alcohol on it but then this fades to a pleasant lightly floral smell. I would expect to get around a hundred uses from this small bottle and I have been using it for around a month now without the level going down much.
I like this hand gel and although it is aimed at new mums, I think it's great for anyone to have in their fight against germs! I think because it is part of the mum & me range from Cussons the price is slightly over the odds but then it is also often on promotion so it's probably best not to pay full price for it.
The hand gel is priced £1.39 which is slightly more than I would normally pay for this kind of product, especially such a small bottle but I had a voucher that took some of the price off it when I bought it and I also got Boots points.
I would definitely recommend this and will be buying it again in the future at some point no doubt. It says on the label that it kills 99.9% of known bacteria and so it is something that gives me a bit of peace of mind knowing that I am at least trying to keep my hands clean with two young children I think this is really important. Whether it works or not, I can't really say but I think it is on a par with those used in hospitals by nursing staff to keep bugs at bay so there must be something behind using these hand gels! I don't think it replaces hand washing by any means but it is a good alternative where there is no sink near by.
