Whenever I get stressed my eczema tends to flare up spontaneously, often on different parts of my body. Not too long ago I had a rash on my hands and was looking for a handwash to sit in my bathroom that wouldn't irritate my skin as much and would not make me want to itch more and also not cause my rash to flare up worse. My mum recommended this aloe liquid soap, although I have to say she is slightly biased as she has a friend who works for the brand as a distributor and so is always going to say good things about it.
It comes in a white pump with a green banner across the bottom containing about 473ml of liquid. When dispensed it is a clear, thick liquid almost with a silky silverish complexion. I only use a small amount to my wet palms and lather as necessary and I find it leaves my hand with a nice fragrant smell, and not dry at all. It definitely has a soft and gentle formula and I was impressed to find it didn't irritate my eczema at all! It's description is a hand and face soap, however I must admit I didn't use it on my face at all (as I am VERY fussy about what I use on my face) so I can't comment on it as a face wash. It does say no tears formula, but I can't vouch for whether this is true or not but it definitely didn't appear to have any harsh chemicals which would irritate my face.
The pump costs around £10 from a forever living distributor which is annoying as not many people are actually aware of this brand as they seem to rely on a word of mouth type of advertising which obviously cuts costs. To be honest, £10 is extremely steep for a hand wash! My mum gave me this one for free, and it did last quite a while - probably around 6 months - but I would presume if one used it as a face wash too it wouldn't last as long. In fairness, it is cheaper than some other premium brands out there (cough cough Molton Brown) and has a lot better qualities in terms of being a good handwash and suitable for those of us with sensitive skin, however for £10 I haven't re-purchased and would probably take a lot of persuading to do so! My eczema is cleared at the moment, so if in the event it returned it would definitely be an option though.
I have started to become a big fan of the Forever Living range of Aloe Vera. I already use the Propolis Creme and Aloe Vera Gelly which I use on Scarlet and myself. I just find the range helps with Scarlet's Eczema and with any bumps, grazes or burns we have. And it's all thanks to my friend Claire that I came across the range.
Until I started using the above items I had never generally heard of the company. But I have since found out that they have been around for quite a while and produce so many different Natural Aloe Vera products including make-up.
The Liquid Soap though comes in a white 473ml (1 Pint) round bottle with a soap dispenser pump on the top. On the front of the bottle at the top is the Forever Living logo of the eagle with the Aloe Liquid Soap written in green. It also explains that it is for your hands and face with no tears formula.
On the back of the bottle it advises 'Aloe Liquid Soap is a rich luxurious, pealescent, moituirising hand and face cleaner. Prepaired from pure Aloe Vera gel and rice 'no tears' sufactants and conitioners. Aloe Liquid Soap cleans without drying, providing a rich, soft lather that is easy to apply and remove'.
It also advises that it is extremely mild to the skin with a slight Aloe Vera frangrance for a smooth clean to leave skin soft and supple. I was glad about the fragrance as strong Aloe Vera makes me feel queasy.
As Scarlets skin is quite bobbly on times especially when she has had a bad outbreak of Ezcema and as I knew the Creme was good I couldn't wait to use this wash one her. As I ordered this through a Forever Living Rep she explained that even though the bottle advises that it is for the hand and face I could also use it on her body.
So when she was in the bath I put about 5 squirts onto my hand. The liquid itself is a creamy white colour and felt quite thick in texture. Rubbing the Gel in was really easy despite the thickness and it makes such a creamy lather. Even in the water you can feel the moisturising quality and it leaves your skin feeling a bit greasy.
Washing the Gel off was quite easy and it left the bath with loads of bubbles which smelt really nice. Drying Scarlet I noticed straight away that her skin was not so scaly and with the Propolis Creme her skin was so nice and smooth. As I was quite worried about the greasyness when her body was wet I thought it may leave her body to touch after she was dry. But I soon noticed I needent have worried.
There was no greasyness and I was really pleased that it left her skin so soft even after the first use. It also left my hands feeling lovely aswell. The scent I noticed was not that strong and quite a fresh, nice, outdoor fresh air smell. I was pleased about the scent as I knew it wouldn't give me headache. The scent even lasted after towel drying and when she woke up in the morning it was like she had just come out the bath. Refreshing.
I paid £10.32 for this bottle but has lasted for about 5 months with both me and Scarlet using it almost daily. I am that impressed with it that I have bought one for next to the kichen sink. And as the products is natural it is even safe for use on the youngest of skin!
