The big bar, yes, I said bar!

I got a lovely surprise load of L'occitane goodies from my husband this year for my birthday. Included was an almond set which had a full sized milk soap in there which I have been using for a few weeks.

      The claim
Enriched with white mallow milk, the Bonne Mère Milk Soap gently cleanses the skin without drying. Our formula contains a sustainable and eco-friendly palm oil which is RSPO* certified. Pampered daily, skin is soft, supple and lightly scented.

      Size and price
The soap is 100g and is a large square shape. It costs £4.50 on the Loccitane website which I actually think is a decent price for how long it will last.

      My thoughts
This is a lovely big bar of soap and was wrapped in cellophane when I got it. I like the texture of the soap and it is embossed with the Loccitane name on it and and old fashioned Bonne Mere and Marseille printed in to it as it is classed as a traditional soap. Scent wise it is not overpowering and it smells clean. I am not a huge lover of soap but this one is a good one so I shouldn't really complain.

      Why Bonne Mere?
Oh Bonne Mère! exclaimed the master soap makers when they developed the original Marseille soap recipe under the watchful eye of the "Bonne Mère" herself – the statue of the Virgin Mary standing above the Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica in Marseille.

      Final word
This square traditional soap is available in many fragrances, in fact I have a purple lavender one to use as well. They are basic but pleasantly fragranced and not too drying on the skin. I shall use the rest of mine up in the shower.

A lovely soap from L'occitane that lathers well and smell great and leaves the skin soft

This soap was part of a gift selection I received for Christmas from my mum. The soap is from L'Occitane and is supposed to be for men but the fragrance is just so good and the soap so soft it is a shame to keep it just for my husband.

The soap is made from 100% plant based ingredients blended with pepper and lavender oils. The blurb from L'Occitane is that the soap is supposed to lend itself to reducing oiliness and to leave the skin feeling soft and supple and I would agree that this is the case.

This soap has been used by both me and my husband in both the shower and the bath and has coped well in both environments giving a great lather. It is tingly with a lovely wake up buzz the pepper is the main scent that comes to the fore when lathering this soap up to use and the pepper tones are definitely the stronger of the two scents. Tantalisingly the lather foams between your hands and with a few seconds it is whipped nicely into delicious creamy foam. The washing off process is nice and easy and though it foams up nicely it also washes out well without any soapy residue being left. Touchable and soft are the words that come to mind to describe how the soap leaves my skin both across the body and the hands. You are left with a lingering scent of pepper on the skin a few hours before fading totally. The soap itself doesn't appear to dry out too much and the small bar lasts well in our case about 6-8 weeks of being used in the shower.

Much as I love this soap due to its lovely warm scent and how soft it leaves the skin it is not a cheap item at £4.50 is probably 2 to 3 times more expensive than most soaps you would buy in the supermarket but for a little bit of a treat it is great item from L'Occitane and would make a lovely stocking filler gift for someone. Due to the cost I am giving this item 4 stars but if you have the cash to splash would give it a go for its creamy warm lather and scent.
