Lush Honey I Washed the Kids Soap
Advantages: smells nice, creamy lather, quality, cleanses my skin
Disadvantages: leaves my hands feeling weird, price
I don't normally buy blocks of soap as I favour liquid soap and liquid shower washes. I was however, pleased to receive two Lush gift sets at Christmas and included in one set was a star shaped block of 'Honey I Washed The Kids'.
'To bee, or not to bee'
Lush do not test their products on animals and try to use many natural ingredients. This particular soap is popular with Lush customers and has been around for quite some time. It is free from preservatives and is vegetarian friendly. If you are a fan of this soap, you may also like 'Honey Bee Bath Bomb' as this has the same honey/toffee scent. 'It's Raining Men Shower Gel' is also similar.
The main ingredient in this soap is honey water. Other ingredients include rapeseed oil, coconut oil, beeswax, bergamot oil, sweet wild orange oil and aloe vera extract. A full ingredients list is available from www.lush.co.uk.
Every piece of this soap is likely to be different in appearance. Instore, the whole block is cream on the bottom and brown at the top. The soap will come neatly wrapped and dated. This soap may come in different shapes if received as part of a gift set and won't be wrapped.
~Price and Availability~

A gift set including various honey scented products is available priced at £19.95.
I adore the smell of most Lush products and whilst this particular soap isn't one I would have bought based on the scent, I was more than happy to receive it as a gift. My soap is a large star shape and came in a Christmas gift set alongside Cinders bath ballistic. I would say that this is one of the plainer looking soaps that Lush offer but appearance isn't everything.
The solid bar of soap has a mild, sweet scent which is quite pleasant. I find the scent to be more appealing and less sickly than It's Raining Men shower gel. It is less concentrated and in turn, is much nicer for me to use personally. I found the star shaped soap fairly easy to work with once I had used it a few times. The edges were a little too neat at first which made washing with it a bit uncomfortable. The soap itself is of a decent quality and doesn't turn to mush or become overly messy when in contact with water.
I find regular soaps to be quite drying to my sensitive skin but Lush soaps are much nicer to use. I mainly use this soap in the shower. I find that this soap gives off a lovely, lightweight and creamy lather. It doesn't feel overly indulgent but it does have a pleasant feel to it and is nicely cleansing against my sensitive skin. The scent offered by this soap is quite strong but not sickly sweet. The honey aroma is evident but I notice a sweet, syrupy toffee aroma mostly and it is absolutely gorgeous.
My skin is left feeling clean and refreshed after using this soap. A sweet scent transfers and lingers for a short while at a subtle level. I do find that whilst my skin is left feeling quite soft and definitely not dried out, it doesn't feel moisturised very much. I have tried using this soap as a hand soap too but like other Lush soaps, I find it leaves my hands feeling weird. I'm quite funny about soaps and whilst I love lathering them up in my hands, I hate the way they leave my hands once rinsed. It kind of freaks me out in a way so I normally give my hands a rinse with liquid hand wash after showering using this soap! Yes I am weird!
I have used this soap quite a lot and it has lasted well. I don't feel the need to use a lot to cleanse my skin and one bar seems to shrink at quite a slow pace compared to regular soaps. I quite like this soap as it has a pleasant smell and feels creamy against my skin. It is very gentle too and I have experienced no irritation from using it. My son has tried it out too as he loves Lush products and likes it. It isn't the best Lush soap that I have tried though and I will award it four stars. I do find it to be expensive for what it is.
Thanks for reading :)
