“ Brand: Lush / Type: Soap „
I'm a huge fan of the store Lush and am trying to sample all of their products, including the limited edition products released every so often as part of the Retro range. One of the products released online just before Christmas was the Spice Mountain soap.
This soap was last seen in Lush in 2004, which is long before I became a fan of the brand, so I was happy to get the chance to try it. It was priced at £3.95 for 100g, which is expensive but normal for Retro soaps. I really liked the sound of it - it was scented with mulled wine for a Christmassy feel, with lime and orange oils for a citrus tang, cinnamon leaf, clove bud and patchouli oils for warmth, and soya milk for creaminess. The base of the soap is made from rapeseed and coconut oil: Lush no longer use palm oil as their main soap base as it is bad for the environment. Because the milk used in the soap is soya milk, the soap is suitable for vegans.
The soap is a festive dark red colour and smells amazing - very Christmassy and warming. I love mulled wine and this soap had a really authentic scent. When wet, I could smell it even more - the smell wafted around the bathroom, which was great.
Washing my hands with this soap was a pleasure. It felt creamy to the touch and luxurious. My hands weren't dried out with this soap and I could smell the scent on them for a while afterwards.
The soap didn't go down too quickly, although this is just as well given the price of it! Just the same, this is a soap for special occasions, not for everyday, I think - it would be far too expensive otherwise!
I definitely recommend this soap if you can get hold of it. However, I have removed a star because of the price.
