When my daughter and I had a weekend in London I was thrilled to find Molton Brown toiletries in the hotel bathroom, I adore the Molton Brown brand but it's quite a rare occurrence to find myself with any of their products due to the fact I buy toiletries for six people and it seems unfair to pay such high prices for stuff for myself.
I ended up bringing four small round Ultra Pure Milk Soaps home with me (well it wasn't my fault they kept replacing them!) and have used them sensibly so still have one left, which I've unwrapped today.
The soap is very lovely, the bars are small and circular so easy to handle both at the sink when washing or if I decide to use it in the shower. It smells gorgeous; creamy and 'delicate' with the kind of fragrance I'd associate with the Dove Cream Bar soaps, and this soap actually acts in a very similar fashion.
The Milk Soap doesn't so much lather as melt into my hands, it's this creamy run-off that you use to wash with which provides not only superb cleansing capabilities but also a surprising level of moisturisation. Ordinarily I wouldn't use soap on my face but there are the odd few that are perfectly fine for my facial skin and this is one of them, I'm not prissy about my cleansing products and don't subscribe to the 'all soap is bad soap' mantra - with this one I'm really glad I am so lax about my skincare routine as it feels absolutely gorgeous on my face and leaves me feeling cleaner even that when I use some of my more specialised cleansers.
I tend to use this mainly as hand soap and keep it in the bathroom on the middle floor (where I know the kids won't use it as they use the downstairs loo!), it feels so nice to wash my hands with and leaves them feeling clean and soft however dirty they were to begin with. I'm actually pretty surprised by the difference in the softness of my hands when I have a bar of this on the go - my hands are one area of my body which are often dry and usually bar soaps exacerbate this problem, but my lovely Molton Brown soaps have the opposite effect and are moisturising rather than drying.
Sadly you can't go to a shop and buy their Ultra Pure Milk Soap as they're available for the hotel industry rather than personal or household use, sometimes you can find them on Ebay (which is what I'm going to look for tonight) or failing that you'll have to go and find a hotel to liberate a bar as I did...
