a treat for fans of L'air du temps

Fragrances can evoke a range of emotions in us, I have early memories of my mum getting ready for a night out and spraying a dab of her L'air du temps onto her wrists. I wonder if it is because of those early associations that the timeless fragrance has become one of my favourites in adulthood? As well as the perfume you can also get matching shower gel, moisturiser and soap. I am not keen on the shower gel or the moisturiser as they do not capture the scent very well but the soap is really nice.

The soap is round and a creamy yellow in colour. The doves which symbolise peace and are sculpted on the lid of the bottle are also on the soap. It is an attractive design without being too fancy or showy.

The soap lathers up well giving a thick and luxurious lather. I am someone who does not use soap as a rule and it did not dry out my skin at all. I would not use it on my face as it would be slightly too harsh there but it is perfect as a body soap. I do want to use a moisturiser afterwards to leave my skin silky smooth, an unscented one is best.

The smell is glorious, just like the perfume the main scent is carnation which immediately hits your nose. It also has hints of violet, iris and rose. These scents would be far too flowery on their own but the fact there is jasmine gives it an earthier feel while bergamot, cedar and musk gives it a sexier kick. Altogether these scents combine to give a fragrance which is perfect, feminine without being too flowery and sweet and sensual.

The scent lingers slightly on the skin but it is far nicer when the perfume is layered on top giving a much deeper scent which lasts for longer.

The only downside to the soap is the price, an 100g bar sells for £15 on its own which is a price I would never pay. I received mine as part of a gift set (you can pick up sets for around £20 with the perfume and soap by shopping around). It is a lovely soap which fans of L'air du temps would be delighted to receive as a gift.
