I have very sensitive skin and so really like products with no perfume - and why add chemical colours to your products when they aren't necessary - harmful to both you and the environment.
I have to say that this is our usual solid soap - we tend to use in in the bath in preference to liquid soaps. Simple products are readily available in most supermarket and high street shops, making them easier to source that other, more natural soaps. They are also very reasonably priced in comparison to more natural soaps.
The soap holds it's shape well - considering the rigours of children's bath time, where other soaps turn to mush and disappear. It washes well and produces a good lather too.
If I were richer, and had more time, I'd probably prefer to go for a product with even less in the ingredients list - and I'd definitely like to minimise the amount of palm oil I use due to the destruction of rainforests to produce the product. So it isn't as ethical a product as I'd like, but in comparison to many high street brands it isn't too bad.
I use a whole range of products from the Simple range and their Simple Soap is one I use a lot. I buy mine in a pack of two from Tesco whenever I do my weekly shop and this costs me one pound and thirty pence. Each soap is individually wrapped though the two soaps ate stuck together. This soap is suitable for use by the whole family and all of my family use this. I particularly like it not only because it is exceptionally kind and gentle on my skin but also because it has been dermatologically tested and it can be used on the face as well as the body. It is not a soap which makes the skin on your face feel dry or tight and it even seems to add moisture and locks it in rather than stripping the skin of its natural oils. In this respect I compare it very favourably to my other favourite soap which is Dove. My daughter has skin which is very prone to eczema and even she is able to use this soap liberally and without it causing her any aggravation r irritation. It has no fragrance, as is the case with all products in this rage, but I actually quite like that. Overall, it''s a great soap which is suitable for the whole family to use and it is kind and gentle on our skin and well priced. I have to really recommend it.

I personally like using soap on my face and often buy different brands.
I purchased this pack of four Simple soaps at Tesco - not because I have particularly sensitive skin but because they were on offer.
The bars themselves are conventional average size tablets with the 'Simple' name on the bar and with a curve underneath signifying a smile.
The soaps are individually wrapped and the packaging is white with green writing.
The bars are creamy in colour and have only a very vague soap smell - and then only if you put the bar right up to your nose.
I liked these soaps as they had a shorted list of ingredients than many others - and for me the fewer the ingredients the better - though I do like perfumed soaps as well.
I was however a bit disappointed to still see some chemicals listed among the ingredients.
I was surprised as how well this soap lathered and it felt quite creamy and rich - I had expected it to be rather a poor specimen and not have much lather.
It worked well on my face and left my more mature skin feeling quite soft and supple - and not dry and taut as some soaps can do.
I like using this soap for my face as it leaves it feeling more clean and fresh than just using make up remover on its own - and the fact that it does not contain excessive ingredients means it is kinder to my skin.
Simple now do a whole range of skin care products as well as anitbacterial soaps but I just like these plain bars that just do their job quietly.
In these days of things having huge long lists of chemicals in their make up it is nice to use something a little more basic and wholesome.

There isn't many skin and body care products that my dad has introduced me to, but Simple Soap is one of them. The brand was recommended to him by a nurse when he was having a medical treatment that required him to use products without added perfume. With the treatment over for the time being, he didn't want to see another bar of Simple again, nice as he found it. Remembering that it was suitable for vegetarians, he offered his unopened bars to me. I had been meaning to try the soap for some time in any case, because I have used other Simple products with success and I like to support a company that produces many animal free products. They also do not test on animals.
Simple say the soap offers a gentle cleansing, and that it won't irritate. It contains neither colour or perfume. I prefer lightly scented body products so this suits me, providing the natural scent of the item isn't horrible of course! The absence of these added ingredients is probably what makes it gentle too, and suitable for sensitive skins. I do not have sensitive body skin myself, so I can't put that to the test.
The soap comes in a standard plastic wrapper, and the individual bars are enclosed in a waxed paper style covering. It does seem a little excessive packaging in one way, but at least it is all easy to open. Once out of the coverings, I was impressed with the size of the bars. They looked chunky and substantial. I thought they had the appearance of a soap that would last well and I was right. I do not usually use soap on my face, because my skin there is more troublesome and benefits from the use of exfoliating scrubs and products such as that. I also use shower gel, so I have not been using the soap exclusively but even so I am happy to see one bar has plenty of use left in it after 3 weeks. I have used some cheaper soaps that look fine until you have got them wet a few times and then they seem to melt away very fast! No such problem with these, they have held their form well.
The soap itself looks an off white colour, and has the Simple logo printed in the middle of the bar. It doesn't look like one of these pretty soaps you would show off to your guests anyway. Scentwise, it smells of pure soap, as you would expect. The scent isn't too strong, but it reminds me of freshness and cleanliness so I quite like it. This isn't a product you would buy to experience a lovely aroma anyway, as it is advertised as unperfumed! It lathers up reasonably well once in water but it doesn't produce a large number of bubbles. For this reason it may not feel the most luxorious soap I have ever used but it does feel gentle on the skin. It doesn't make my skin feel tight or uncomfortable after using it. Most importantly, it cleans the skin effectively. I have used it to clean up after coming back mud splattered from the allotment and Simple leaves me clean as a whistle. I think if it can tackle that sort of grime, it will deal with most things! As mentioned above I generally don't use soap on my face but I have used this once or twice and I have suffered no adverse results. Overall my skin just feels pleasant, fresh and clean.
As someone whose body skin is neither dry nor greasy in the main, I can't advise how the soap would suit you if you do. I can only say my skin does not feel at all irritated or dried out when I use this, and it doesn't cause me spots. I would definitely recommend it as a good everyday soap. It works to clean your skin and feels gentle. It is also a very reasonably priced product.
My dad bought the soap in twin packs from the 99p store, and it is easy to find in similar shops. You can of course also buy it in places such as Superdrug and Boots, as well as in the supermarkets but you will pay a bit more. The individual bars are available in Wilkinsons, among other places. It is also possible to buy a 4 pack.
[This review my also appear on Ciao, under my user name.]
Simple products are ones that I have come to know as being suitable for my sensitive skin. As they do not have a scent or any colours I usually stay away from them if I can find something a little better smelling/looking that is equally as considerate to my skin. From time to time I will revert back to Simple products if I am having a bad case of eczema. Recently the eczema on my feet has flared up, possibly due to the cold weather, and therefore I have been doing what I can to keep my skin healthy and moisturised without using products that may irritate it.
The item that I have purchased is the twin pack of Simple Pure soap. This can be found from numerous places and mine came from Boots a couple of months ago. I believe the price that I paid was just over £1.00 on an offer but this appears to be back to the normal price of £1.55. Each bar is 125g which appears, to me at least, to be quite simple for soap. This soap has no fragrance, no colour and is dermatologically tested. This should mean that it will not cause problems with people who have sensitive skin but if you had extremely sensitive skin you may not even be able to use soap bars at all.
The sole reason for my use of these bars has been on my feet. I have found them very simple to use, like any soap really, I just wet my foot or feet, run this all over and then rinse clean before drying thoroughly with a soft towel or even just leaving to dry naturally before drying the damper parts of my foot afterwards. The only scent that I can determine when using this is that of something clean this is hard to distinguish I know but I quite like it and feel that it works well with the Simple name. The soap does produce some lather, not as much as other products that I have used in the past but then I did not expect a luxurious amount of bubbles with this anyway.
I have found that this can be a little drying on my skin but not too much to stop me using it completely, just to cut back to using it only when my eczema is very very bad. Overall I was quite pleased with this soap. It helped me to get a control on the itching from my feet and it helped me to start clearing up the patches of bad skin again before moving back to using products that I love a little more than this.
I have been using this soap for a while and find it to be very good. I have no problems with it at all, it's nothing outstanding but when I'm looking for a bar of soap to keep by the sink I'm not looking for something special so it does fine for me!
The Simple range offer health and beauty products which are not full of promises and overly dressed to look like something special. Instead they remain 'simple' which is what I like as you get the impression you know where you stand with them. I like to keep a bar of soap beside the sinks in my house so that people can wash their hands properly if they so wish. I don't like to have a fancy bar which is overly fragranced or an alarming colour as i like it to appeal to everyone so a simple, plain bar of soap is fine by me which is why this one from Simple is so good.
The bar of soap is a standard size and comes individually wrapped in a greased paper. It has the Simple logo pressed into it which gradually fades away after use. It fits perfectly fine on my soap dishes. It is quite chunky so good to get hold of although over time this will get smaller and smaller.
When you add some water to this soap it becomes slippery especially if you get it very wet! Without water though the soap won't come away so you do need a bit. It's best to just wet your hands and then run them along the soap, any more or any less water then it is not very effective.
I find that it lathers up quite well like you expect from a soap so that you only need to use a very, very small amount for it to spread across your hands and between your fingers.
It has a very light smell of 'soap' there is not a specific smell about it just of a clean, fresh smell which could make it any brand of soap really. I think that is fine as this soap is most likely to be used on hands so I don't want it to have a strong smell which will stay on my hands after using it.
It does help to clean hands especially sticky fingers that the grandchildren have so it cleans very well like you would expect from a soap really. It doesn't leave the skin feeling any different afterwards either so it doesn't feel like it has been moisturised or nourished but at the same time it doesn't feel rough and dry either so it really is just a simple soap which is what I like.
There is nothing special about this soap so if you are looking for something different or to make a talking point this isn't for you! If you just want something to help wash your hands then this is perfectly fine! It lasts a long time too so is very good. I have given it 4 stars just because there is nothing special about it and I think that 5 stars is worthy of something more outstanding than a simple, plain soap!
I have been using simple products for a while as my skin is really quite sensitive and I have been using this product for about two weeks now. It is not the same as the product as the simple brand packaging has been updated.
*About the product*
I bought the product which is the twin/two pack of soap as it was cheaper to get the two pack rather than the individual soaps. It comes in white and green packaging, with 'simple' written on it. They come as two 125g bars and they don't contain any perfume or colour.
*My opinion of the product*
I have been using this product as a hand soap for about two weeks, I don't use this product on my face as soap dries out my already really dry skin. It is a white creamy bar, just like most soaps on the market and it has simple printed on the front.
I like using this product as a hand soap but I don't usually buy 'hard' soaps, I usually get hand washes, but because of my two new tattoos I bought this product. The tattooist said that simple is the best brand to use on new tattoos, so I wash my wrist tattoos with this soap twice a day and I find that it really cleanses my skin well. It lathers up really well too and it does have a scent to it, it is kind of like sweet baby powder again, which some people may not like but I think it is quite nice.
I also have a small patch of eczema on my hand and using this product it has cleared up quite a lot, I don't know of it is this soap or something else but it is a lot better and the soap does not irritate it at all, it also does not irritate my tattoos.
I have also used it as a body soap and it does work well too, again it lathers up really well, it creates lots of nice smelling bubbles and the scent of the product stays on my skin a while, definitely not all day but a few hours - if I don't put any other products on my skin afterwards.
Although the only downside to this product is that it is a bit drying, like all soaps I have used (except porridge and honey I washed the kids from lush) which is not good for my skin as it is really quite dry any way, so this product does not help. So I don't think I will be using it as a body soap and definitely not as a face soap as it is so dry but as a hand soap and to clean my tattoos it is fantastic.
Also another thing that I like about this product is that it does not 'dissolve' quickly, it lasts for a while with out turning in to mush. All of soaps that I have used have worn away really quickly but this one does not - it lasts for a while and it still works really well.
*Price and availability*
I bought this twin pack from boots and it only cost me £1.52 which is really good for two, especially considering that the individual ones are £1.01 on their own, it is worth it to get the two pack of soaps. They are sold in most larger supermarkets and boots and also amazon but they are quite a bit more expensive on amazon.
*Cheap and widely available
*Suitable for sensitive skin and it does not irritate my eczema
*Cleansing and lathers up really well
*very good as a hand soap and ok as a body soap
*Really good at cleansing and keeping my new tattoos clean
*Dermatologically tested and smells nice
*Lasts for a while
*Quite drying on the body and especially on the face - so I would not use it as a body or face soap, but as a hand soap it is great.
Thank you for reading my review
I bought this soap after visiting my doctor about my awful skin. He reccomended that I ditch all my fancy products and simply wash my face with soap & warm water.
I picked these up as they claim to be for sensitive skin and contain no harsh chemicals etc. I wanted something gentle for my skin and this certainly didn't disapoint.
This soap lathers well and feels nice to apply. It doesn't have any strong smells and feels so gentle to use. It didn't leave my skin with that tight feeling that you sometimes get with soap, and I didn't feel like my skin was at all dry after using it.
After using this for quite a while my skin had improved considerably. It had reduced in redness and I found that it didn't get shiny or oily as quickly. I got spots less frequently, which made me so happy.
The best thing about this is the price- only around 85p a bar! This is such a bargain and it lasts longer than any cleanser would. For under a pound this really is worth trying- it may not be anything fancy or promise miracles, but I really am pleased with the results I got from using it.
I was in Morrisons doing my weekly shopping yesterday and whilst looking for some new soap I came across a four pack of Simple which was available on offer at just £1. I had not used Simple soap before, Usually opting for a one or two bar pack of another soap. I usually use Shower Gel the most but also keep some Soap for a change and to save a bit of Shower Gel to make it last a bit longer. The soap I got was the 4 x 125g which are each in their own packaging and will hopefully last you a good while. There are other products in the range from Simple which will work well in connection.
This soap is advertised as particularly good for senstive skin and it's also fragrance free being non perfume, One thing I noticed about the bars is that they are quite large compared to some other soaps. The light colour of the bar is normal and in practice I was very pleased with the results in terms of the way that it cleanses your skin and leaves it feeling smooth and refreshed where some soap can leave your skin a little dry. With a little bit of water this soap will give you a decent amount of lather which is another plus point about this product. I feel this soap also works well with whatever deodorant you spray or roll on afterwards.
This is an ideal soap if you have sensitive skin and also if you prefer your soap to be scent free. This is one drawback for me as I prefer soaps which have a tangible scent. This however is a very good soap which works well in the shower or bath and really cleanses your skin and leaves it feeling smooth and healthy. It's ideal for the whole family and is rightly a popular product around the Country. I will buy this soap again but I have tried soaps that better suit my preferences.
I have sensitive skin, which I can usually keep under control, but in the past I have had some really bad flair ups of dermatitis, mainly affecting my hands. When this happened it's difficult to use soap, and, in fact the only one I found I could use was Simple Soap.
Since trying this soap some years ago I always use it but very occasionally I might also try another another mild, perfume free soap but I find I always have this tried an tested brand in my bathroom.
This soap is, as the name says fairly 'simple.' I use it at least twice a day, and find that it never irritates and doesn't cause any adverse skin reactions.
I find that this soap has an good lather but doesn't foam up as much as perhaps Johnson's baby soap. As Johnson's baby soap has a lovely smell I don't think it can be a pure as Simple soap. It has a nice subtle smell but as it's perfume free it is purely a slight smell of soap.
As for cleaning, I find it works in that department as well as any other soap I've tried. It feels nice on the skin and cleans and freshens without causing problems to one's skin. This is an ideal soap to use on a baby or young children due to it's mildness.
I have been using this for such a long time now that I can sincerely say that I find it the ideal soap for all the family's use.
When I first started using Simple Soap it was a little expensive, but now with the appearance of so many pound and ninety nine pence shops, I never pay more than £1.00 for a twin pack. I sometimes find an offer in a supermarket or Savers and pay it can work out less than fifty pence per bar. Well worth it!
According to the packaging this soap has the best ingredients in it for suitability for all skins types, even the most sensitive.
It contains no colour, no perfume, and is dermatalogically tested.
Sodium Tallowate, Sodium Cocoate, Aqua, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Sodium Chloride, Glycerin, Tetrasodium EDTA, Etidronic Acid
I don't pay that much attention to what soap I use, I mean I know if it's Lush or other SPECIAL soap but usually we've just got whatever decent brand is on special offer in whatever supermarket we're using that week. This week though I was happy to see my mum had brought Simple soap because I haven't used it for years even though I've always been dead impressed with it when we've had Simple in the bathroom.
I was glad we had this soap actually because I can feel a bit of a flare up coming on my forehead so hopefully swapping to this gentle soap will help stop it in it's tracks!
There's no perfume in Simple soap but it has got a fragrance, it's a bit like baby soap in the smell of it and smells proper nice and gentle. There is a creamy smell to it as well and I like that but it would be nice if that was a bit stronger like the creamy smell of Dove soap.
Simple soap lathers up nice and feels lovely to use. It cleans my skin good and doesn't leave it feeling sticky or dry or anything like that. It's easy to rinse the soap off as well with warm water and it doesn't leave any sticky patches on your skin where you think you've got it all off but missed a bit.
The soap is quite moisturising but I wouldn't say it's one that would mean you could miss out using your moisturiser if you need to use that every day. It feels gentle to use and is even kind to use on your face as well as in the shower, I usually use cleanser on my face but this Simple one is nice enough to use every day and I reckon even people with sensitive skin would be fine with this on a regular basis because of it being so kind and gentle.
This pack of 4 bars of soap cost about £1.90 and I think that's a good price because of it being such good quality soap and also being suitable for sensitive skin.
I have to be careful regarding the soap products I use on my son. As he has a tendency to have very sensitive skin. I have tried other cheaper branded soap in the past but this has led to flare ups of red rash behind his ears. Therefore I will only use one brand of soap for my son and this soap is simple.
Simple soap is very appropriately packaged. The packaging has a pure look to it. It is not at all fussy. I think this packaging works well as it allows the consumer to percieve the message that this soap is simple and free of fuss and kind and gentle and unassuming.
I always buy the twin bar packs although I do believe that you can buy multiple packs containing many tablets of simple soap. I don't have much room for storage in my bathroom so prefer to buy my soap as and when I need it. The twin pack of simple soap usually costs me around £2 from my local supermarket. Although this can fluctuate due to in store promotions. I don't think that this price is too much to pay. Infact like all mums I would pay anything in order to protect my son. I do appreciate though that this simple soap is not the cheapest on the market. However I think it is worth the extra money as it is a very good quality product.
When opening the individually packaged tablets of simple soap, you will no doubt notice the beautifully gentle aroma associated with this soap. There is no perfume or colour in this soap, unyet it's pure and gentle aroma is delightful. It is a clean and soothing scent almost theraputic. I find the scent that fills the bathroom when using this soap is very clean and calming.
The soap has no colour which further adds to it's simplistic allure. I love the texture of this soap. It is very creamy and lathers up into a lovely frothy soapy wash. The soap is also very durable. I hate soap that goes all slimy and disintigrates. But this soap does not loose it's creamy texture unyet manages to keep it's shape and form well.
I do think this soap is fantastic in lasting a long time. It is used in our house a lot but still one bar manages to last atleast a few weeks. I think this is because you don't need much in order to create a great lather.
After usage I always notice that my son smells so fresh and clean. His skin is also very smooth and there is no evidence of any irritation. There is something so incredibly caring and wholesome about this product. From the smell to the gentle creamy lather. I would never change to another soap product for my son now as this is simply perfect.
I bought the Simple soap as I regularly use the Simple moisturiser and found this very kind on my skin, as it claimed. I have sensitive skin and have previously found soaps very harsh on my skin, causing them to dry out and become flaky, so I was expecting similar results from this. However to my surprise I found that the simple soap was not too harsh although it did cause some drying, as any soap would probably. The soap seem to do a good job of cleaning off all dirt on my face and after using the Simple soap I was left with very soft and supple skin. Similar to most (maybe all) Simple products this soap was 'perfume free' so is ideal for both males and females to use.
The double pack that I purchased came in very little packaging, which was nice to see. The soaps were individually wrapped in thin plastic with another plastic pack over the two bars. The soap bars are standard size as far as bars of soap go, so will last you a good while if used once a day on just your face and neck.
I bought the Simple Soap on offer in a two pack from a discount store however due to the good results I have experienced from using this product I would definitely consider purchasing it at any reasonable price, as good products for sensitive skin are hard to come by.
Overall I would recommend this product, especially to those with sensitive skin that find good quality products like this hard to come by.
I generally have skin that gets irritated quite often, and hate that sticky soapy residue thats left on your face right before a day at work so when i came across the Simple brand i was more than impressed with its basic purity.
I know you can pick it up from any major supermarket or pharmacy, but from ASDA mine was just £1.08 for a pack of two. Even the packaging itself is very plain and 'pure' so straight away you know what you are going to be getting from this product. The packaging is well designed and really shows the strength of the brand. It comes with enough instructions for application and even how to get the best results which i was pleased with. Each bar inside the packet once opened is wrapped individually for even more freshness. Very handy for holidays, or small trips away for your tolietry bag! Both packets are simple to open and will cause no hazard to your fingers as some have that i've tried before.
The soap itself states its 'pure for sensitive skin' which sums it up in one. I would say it could be used for any type of skin due to no perfume or colour. The bar itself is of a decent size and quite hard compared to most bars but i found this simply means that it lasts alot longer. The colour is quite a bright white showing its purity and simpleness. Once applying, it lathers and bubbles up great with just the slightest bit of the soap in your hands. Right down to the last bit of the bar it still lathers which is rare as most just die when it comes to the end! Really value for money, best soap i have used for my skin. It absorbs well into your skin with no after irratation, residue or dryness but instead moisture, freshness and a clean smell. It doesnt make your skin sticky at all, just smooth and refreshed for a bright start in the morning. It gave an overall brighter look to my face!
This soap is so ideal with its sensitive approach to smooth skin for everybody really, sensitive skin or not it will give great results and really last for such a long time with lasting effects throughout the bar. Its a great base for make-up as well for the girls as it evens out the texture in your face. I'd highly recommend this to anyone!
Following on from my Simple shampoo review of yesterday, and having just got out of the Shower after using it again, along with Simple soap, here is a quick review on Simple soap.
I have used Simple soap for about the same length of time as I have Simple Shampoo - around 10 years. In the past, I have always been a user of pure and plain soap, if possible, due to my Skin problems - Dermatitis and sensitivity, but I had never used anything quite as good as this product. I think it is superb.
It looks just like a normal bar of soap, but without the insipid colours of many of them, it is just a plain "Off white" colour. Not a lot of good if you must have colour co-ordinated "Goodies" in your Bathroom - hey its soap!!!!!!!........ It has no smell / Fragrance, well not that I can discern anyway.
I guess the previous two comments describe it in all its glory - Pure plain and simple soap, no colours, no perfumes, no additives, and no horrible chemicals. None of the things that can upset your skin, that's why I and people with similar skin problems use this product, - It causes far less problems to our skin than some other products.
It lathers up well and a bar seems to last quite a long time. I feel really clean after using it, no residues, no oily feelings, no tingles, nothing - just clean, but most importantly to me, no skin irritation. The bar feels a bit harder than other soaps, but so what. It also seems to be more slippery than some soaps, can be quite fun chasing it about the Shower tray / Bath - sometimes even across the Bathroom itself! - Am I sad or what????????????????
I have nothing but praise for this product, long may they continue to manufacture it. If you suffer from Skin problems and / or irritation then give this soap a try, I don't think you will be disappointed in any way.
Quick note, as of 03/03/2010 you can buy a 4 pack of this soap, from Tescos, for the princely sum of £1.00. Be quick, I don't think that offer price will last long.
