The Body Shop Satsuma Soap
Advantages: Pretty colour, nice shape and nice smell of oranges
Disadvantages: Quite a string smell which took me a little while to get used to
I ordered some Christmas presents off the Body Shop website last Christmas and I was pleased to find a £3 gift card packed in with my order which could be spent in store. I had never bought anything for myself from the Body Shop before so the next time I saw one, I popped in to see what I could spend it on. I didn't fancy having money off a more expensive item, I wanted to get something for £3 or less so I found myself drawn to a basket full of various different coloured bars of soap which were £2 each.
There were quite a few different scents available including fruity ones such as strawberry, satsuma, lemon, grapefruit, mango and coconut, as well as a couple of slightly odd ones called chocomania and olive which I decided to steer clear of! I chose the satsuma one which is a nice, bright, clear orange colour, as you would expect.
It may sound strange to say but I really like the shape of this soap! It is curved in a way that is nice and comfortable to hold. It is really easy to turn over in your hands and it feels really nice and smooth when doing so (none of this exfoliating nonsense full off seeds and pebbles and goodness knows what else!)
At first, when taking the soap out of the packet I was a bit overwhelmed by the strength of the smell and I was worried it was too fragranced for me to get along well with. It does indeed have a strong orange smell (satsuma, apparently, if we are going to be technical but who can honestly small the difference between the two anyway?). I am pleased to say that it grew on me and I now really like using this soap. The smell lingers on your hands for a little while after using but is obviously weaker and I think this is really pleasant and refreshing.
It soaps up nicely when being used but still stays nice and solid. It doesn't seem to get soggy or leave orange mush on the sink which is a bonus! Some bars of coloured soap are terrible for this. Conversely, it doesn't dry out or crack either, it just sits there looking lush and orange, waiting for its next use!
I personally feel that at £2 this soap will go much further (and is more pleasant to use) than most liquid soaps which cost the same price. When my present bar of soap runs out, I would happily go back to the Body Shop and buy this product again therefore it gets 5 stars from me!
