Recently I have started to get strange dry patches on the skin of my legs, this is a problem I have had before, I not know what causes it and it doesn't itch or hurt, it's just there. I usually use body wash, so when I went shopping the other day I went along the shelves looking for something different and the Tisserman tea tree soap caught my eye.
The soap is organic made with basic ingredients including tea tree extract, avocado oil and sea buckthorn (the berries are good as an anti-inflammatory) cypress (comes from the perennial tree and is used as an antiseptic) sage extract along with some natural occurring chemicals such as sodium palmate, sodium and glycerine. It's smells quite old-fashioned, a little herby, but with an overriding smell of tea tree. The smell is very clean and fresh and is in the Tisserand aromatherapy collection.
It was strange at first using soap rather than body wash. I haven't used soap in a long while and it doesn't feel or lather in the same way. Infact it hardly lathers at all but I can feel it on my hands and on my skin. Because it isn't really lathery it washes off very easily leaving my skin feeling very clean, almost squeaky clean!
The first few times I used it the soap made my skin a little dry after showering, however my skin seems to have adjusted and now is feels quite smooth after washing. The dry patch on my leg does seem to have decreased a little so I am wondering if it was due to some chemical in the body wash. I have also been putting tea tree cream on after showering so this is sure to be helping too.
The soap is made a slightly translucent creamy colour and is quite a hard soap - it doesn't go squishy. I have been using it for several weeks now and its hardly shrank at all, the imprint of "Tisserman" can still be clearly seen on the top of the soap. I think this soap will last a long time.
I was really impressed with this soap, so impressed I have since bought the face version, which has basically the same ingredients and in the future I think I will just get the face version and use it for everything. Again, as with the body soap my face felt a little dry after the first few washes, however this has subsided and it seems to be having a really good effect on my skin, I have combination skin which gets greasy around the t-zone and causes blackheads. I have been using the soap about a week on my face and already I have less blackheads on my nose, hurray!
Both versions are 100g in weight, and unlike the picture above, which I guess is outdated they come in a square cardboard box and the soap inside is round. The face soap was slightly cheaper than the body version at £3.50, the body version was £3.75 and I got them both from Waitrose.
This soap is free from synthetic colours and fragrances, parabens and SLES. Non of its ingredients have been tested on animals and it is also vegan. The soap is even made in England!
I think this soap will prove to be a great find for my skin, but also for my purse as I can see one bar is going to last a long time.
