Angry birds have become a popular game that has many formats. The preferred version and the one we play is on the tablet, as the touch screen allows for easy playing, and I think it is better suited. However, this game can also be played on a desktop computer.
My partner is a bit of a gaming fiend, and enjoys all manner of games from blood thirsty games to ones that are more fun and juvenile. Our 5 year old autistic son is a whiz on his tablet, and enjoys following in his father's footsteps in becoming another crazy gamer. I find that my son has benefitted a lot from playing computer games and using the computer, as it gives him that predictability that enables him to become good at being in control. The angry bird's game is all good fun, and can be enjoyed at any age. It surely is an addictive game once you give it a go.
Since the popularity of the game all manner of merchandise has been released onto the market. When we happened on the Bad Pig my son was elated. The bright vivid green plush piggy is 8 inches high and is soft and squishy. It features the same characteristics from the game with its slightly unbalanced eyes, a great big nose and its expressive eyebrows to give it a crazed and cheeky look. It looks good, is appealing and is going to be popular with fans on the game.
Having seen the £10 price tag I was a little bit shocked, as this seems a high price to pay. However, this is true of all children's toys and is now expected. Seeing my son's elation and excitement over the toy persuaded me to get it for him. The soft plush comes with no packaging, and only a swing tag is to be removed. My son didn't want his piggy putting into a bag, and he happily clung onto it all the way home while shaking and squeezing it with excitement.
My son absolutely loves this toy, and it sends him crazy. He generally throws it about while hysterically laughing. It does get played with quite a bit actually, and is sat on, squeezed to an inch of its life and even goes to bed with him sometimes. As such, the bright green piggy does become a little grubby after time, plus soft toys do absorb dust. With this in mind, I do launder his soft toys from time to time.
This Bad Pig should only be surfaced washed. However, being a clean freak I'm afraid I go against this, and actually wash him in the machine. I was worried about the outcome. Not for the fact that the piggy costs £10, but the fact that if I'd have ruined him my son wouldn't have been overly pleased. Luckily, on a delicate wash, the piggy survived and all is well. He would probably last longer by being surface washed; however, knowing my son is susceptible to mouthing his toys, I want to ensure they are clean and hygienic. I did give him a short, gentle spin in the dryer to help with the drying process.
After several months of being thrown around, squeezed and bounced, this bad piggy is still looking good. Even with me giving him a wash in the machine a few times. It doesn't look as new as it did, but that is to be expected. I would imagine the Bad Pig would look in better condition if he were handled with more care and was surface washed as advised. My son is still ecstatic with his piggy, and he still gets plenty of attention.
This is a great toy for Angry Birds fans old or young.
This little piggy went splat on the floor with a concrete block on his head. Yes, it's those annoying smug looking green things. These are excellent as a kids toy and a collectors item. I put this one up on top of the HiFi with the other angry birds.
The fabric is smooth and soft, the little fibres stick up a little bit but not by much. You can feel the smoothness when running your fingers through them. I can't feel any lumps or bumps so they are all stitched together quite well. They aren't a 100% accurate depiction of the ones in the game but being official branded ones they're as close as you're gonna get.
They can easily be squashed and bashed about and feel quite soft to push around in your hands. I don't know what the stuffing is made of inside but you can really push it down with quite a bit of force. They do almost squash to the bottom but have plenty of fabric inside to keep them puffed up so they don't loose shape. I suppose this is a good thing, but it would be interesting to see a completely squashed pig. Especially on the iPad game that is...
They are well made too, they can withstand a child knocking them about or grabbing at them. I just leave them out on the top of the HiFi to look good but these are designed as a children's toy so messing around with them, throwing them about and what not wont cause any damage. I've had mine for months and they're all in excellent condition. In fact, they still have the labels on.
The colour is excellent, there are not faded or patchy, it's a solid colour all round and is an excellent shade of green. It is very slightly lighter than in the game but this is absolutely fine by me. It's hardly noticeable and if you give it to a child they're not going to notice.
This piggy does seem to collect dust very frequently. I just bash mine about to get the worst of the dust off but you can always just get a mildly moist/damp cloth to get the dust to stick to it.
Overall this is a great little toy, kids would really enjoy this but it also looks good on your mantelpiece along with the other angry birds. They can be bashed about and played with but equally if left alone they will gather dust, so just clean them regularly.
I highly recommend this pig to add to your angry birds collection.
** ANGRY BIRDS **
It seems that most people have heard of the craze that is Angry Birds. Originally an IPhone game where you could play and go. Since then it has whirlwind into a brand and I have got caught up in it. I played the game online as I don't have an IPhone and I got addicted to it until I finished the whole thing.
The aim of the game is to aim an 'Angry Bird' at the rather odd but appealing sad looking piggy. The pigs are hiding under a structure of wood, concrete or glass and the birds have to fall on this and break it down until they squash the piggy! An odd concept but so addictive.
** ANGRY BIRDS PLUSH PIGGY **
The Piggy is a big part of the Angry Birds game. You could see them as either the baddy or goody. They could be the bad guy because they have stolen the bird eggs, but as they get mashed into a pulp by the falling materials and birds they look rather sad and the birds look like the bad ones!
This plush cuddly Piggy is the same colour as the pigs in the game. A rather florescent bright green. It is completely soft and cushiony with one of the funniest expressions ever. It has a huge snout and dumpy silly eyes which are slightly lopsided. It even has some eyebrows sewn it at the top of its head to give it a sad but surprised expression. The ears stick right out on top making it easy to grab hold of.
The size of the teddy is actually quite big, about 6 inches in height. Chunky but not very heavy. It is weighted well and although it is round, the bottom is slightly flatter with a fitted in bean bag so that it can sit correctly without rolling over. The size is really hard to describe but I would say about the size of a regular bowling ball.
** Price & Availability **
I was given this as a gift but after looking around the price can change from £10.00 to £25.00. There is also a pig available that makes sound but I think that would have been incredibly annoying. Amazon has a wide range of Angry Bird merchandise including this Piggy. You can also buy it from the Angry Birds website although the cost is a little more.
** Why Buy It? **
So this Plush Toy is a slightly odd item. I didn't buy it for myself but it is definitely a great gift. It just looks so funny and when you look at it you can't help but smile.
It is so soft that if you gave it to a child they could use it as an original teddy to cuddle in bed. Plus because it is so soft it can be catapulted around when playing with it and it won't cause you any bruises.
I often use it as a little pillow or as a stress busting tool. It is really nice to hold and stroke because the plush is so so so soft. Bouncing it around helps as well. It usually just sits on the shelf in my bedroom, but makes me chuckle every time I look at it.
If bought as a gift, it will be more relevant for Angry Bird fans, but even if they don't know of the game it is a really cute and funky cuddly toy for adult or child and I love it.
** IMPORTANT INFO **
Warning: Not suitable for children under 36 months
Warning: To be used under the direct supervision of an adult
I used to be a bit addicted to the well known iPhone game Angry Birds, which most of my friends were aware of and they used to take the mick out of me all the time for it. It was my 20th birthday in September and I recieved this plush teddy from one of my best friends Ricky - I loved it straight away and still do. I don't think he expected me to like it half as much as I do and he said it was more of a joke present than anything, but I love it and have even given it a name haha.
This teddy is designed to be the face of one of the pigs that are in the game angry birds. In the game, the pigs are the baddies which have taken the bird's eggs, and the whole idea of the game is for the birds to retrieve the eggs (by attacking the pigs) from the greedy pigs. I've always thought of the pigs as quite cute despite being a strange shade of green!
The teddy does actually look alot like the pigs in the game - it has a big snout (complete with huge nostrils!) which is kind of 3D - it sticks out from the pigs face rather than being stitched on to it, and it has a really nice, soft furry texture to it. The eyes are either side of the snout to create a squished up face and it has little ears. It even has eyebrows! It really is adorable.
This toy is quite large - around the same size as my head or a medium sized melon, and I do actually use it as a pillow sometimes or whenever I feel crappy and just want to lay there in silence I usually give it a bit of a hug - i'm 20 but i'm not ashamed to admit that I really love this toy. I suppose it's mainly because my best friend gave it to me and for that reason I kind of treasure it, and also because it's cute and comfy and cuddling it is very comorting.
The toy, despite its size, is quite lightweight so it's fun to throw about when i'm playing with my dogs and they seem to enjoy it (not that I let them chew it - I only throw it for them in doors and they bring it back) - it's very durable. It's got a soft and squishy feel to it and it's got a beanbag in side as well which weighs it down meaning it can sit on a shelf upright rather than being lopsided or whatever. I keep mine on my bed near my pillows.
I've only had to wash this toy once (because one of my dogs dragged it outside onto the mud!) and it suprisingly washed really well and didn't take too long to dry either. The mud etc was succesfully cleaned off of it and it looked good as new, the texture does now slightly feel a bit more textured than before (before it felt soft and silky and now it's more soft and fluffy) but this doesn't bother me.
The teddy is available from a variety of sites. I had no idea how much my friend had paid for this until I looked online today at the prices and I was shocked! This teddy averages at £22 which I found shocking - I wouldn't pay that price despite how cute and cuddly it is, so i'm glad that Ricky bought it for me and I have just texted him calling him silly for spending that much on my birthday present, bless him. I suppose the teddy is kind of worth the price though as it is quite large, soft and nice to cuddle and it is also durable, meaning it'll last for ages.
Overall, I would reccomend this teddy as it's really cute and any fan of Angry Birds will love it!
I'd be lying if I said that I don't have a thing for Angry Birds. I got acquainted to the worldwide gaming phenominon a little later than the general population, which was mainly down to me not owning an iPhone, but I've managed to catch up with the amazing game by playing (and fully completing) the online Chrome version of it. As you do, I had to spread the word about this must-play game and - within no time at all - I'd got the Mrs as hooked as I was on the game. With us both putting in the practice at very selective times (such as in the ad breaks of X-Factor) we'd immersed ourselves in the world of Angry Birds as far as possible. Because of this, I decided to cement our love for it by surprising the Mrs. with a plush Piggy delivered to the house.
When looking through the Angry Birds-related toys on the net, it was clear that the Piggy was the funniest-looking one. The game might all be about the birds, but the satisfaction of hitting those weird-face pigs is what makes the game what it is. Having said this, I didn't even consider the rest and I'm glad that I did so. Once the toy arrived, it really did look identical to the 2D version - but in 3D! It's got a dumb expression on its face - in the sort of cute way that French Bulldogs have - and it really does make you laugh every single time you look at it... Well, it should do I you spent over a tenner on it!
When holding it, you'll discover just how quality the toy feels to most plush products. I can't say I've invested any money into a plush toy (to my knowledge) but it feels much better than anything I've come across before. It's fairly weighty, so is fun to throw around. It's half bean-half plush inside and it has great texture to it, so feel great. But most importantly, my girl loves it. I can't see a reason why anyone who likes Angry Birds wouldn't either. Because of this, I have to ask why you haven't thought about getting one.
If you've got the money to spend on a plush toy (which I can't even say I really had at the time) and you really do have a thing for Angry Birds, I'd say there really isn't a better thing to go and buy. Of all the other related products, I'd say it's the most aesthetically-appealing. I managed to pick it up for a little over £10, and don't regret it a single bit. It's great fun, is good quality and will please the girlfriend.
