“ Brand: Argos / Type: Soft Toy / Age: 3+ „
I am a big christmas shopper and love finding things for the kids. I had my shopping list sortes and on it was two create a bears for the neices. The girls had seen these in the argos one that was wanted was the dog. Not to dissapoint I bought what they want. When I got them home I decided to open them to see how good they looked due to my daughter having one from the bear factory I wanted it to be the same quality. I was dissapointed with what was produced. This did resemble a dog but the fir wasn't as nice as I hoped and the picture in the catalogue looked better than the actual thing. This is only 20 pound and within that price you get to.choose an outfit and an accessory. The price for what you get is good and there is a good choice in outfits and accessories. I think that the bears from the bear factory are better quality and are more unique in choice. However these bears are ok for the price. The dog itself is not the best bear in this range and would advise to buy a different one. My neices loves theirs which was the main thing. I won't be buying these for my children I would prefer to spend that little bit extra for a better one.
I have always liked the Bear Factory and the concept of making your own bear and dressing it however you like, but the cost of the bears there always put me off, the average price being around the £30.00 mark. I couldn't really justify paying that price for a teddy, especially if my daughter wasn't going to be as keen on it as maybe I would be! Last week I went to an Argos store as I had a voucher to spend so I thought I would go and pick up a couple of things for (dare I say it) Christmas - eeek! With the purchases I made, the staff member gave me a copy of the new catalogue which I took home and straight away my mum decided to have a flick through to see if they sold a certain toy she is looking for. After a short while, all I could hear from her was "Awww" and "How cute is that" etc and it turned out she was looking at a new product they have launched - the designabear!! So, what is a designabear? There are four soft toys to choose from, a puppy, a rabbit, a cream bear and a honey bear. All four of these soft toys are super cute and choosing one can prove to be quite difficult, trust me! After choosing your toy, it is then time to choose an outfit! There are quite a few to choose from: Ball Gown - elegant lilac ball gown Fairy - pink fairy dress and wand Rock and Roll outfit - pink spotty dress, bandana and black shoes Tracksuit - pink tracksuit and trainers Winter outfit - silver parka jacket and boots Cheerleader - cheerleader dress and trainers Bedtime set - pyjama's and dressing gown Casual outfit - stripey t-shirt, jeans and trainers Fun outfit - padded gillet, denim leggings and long sleeve t-shirt Fashion Mac outfit - raincoat, hat and wellies There are also accessory sets to go with the outfits: Rucksack and baseball cap - can go with casual outfit and fun outfit Mobile Phone accessory set - can go with ball gown, rock and roll and tracksuit outfit Bedtime accessory set - goes with bedtime set Winter accessory set - goes with winter outfit. The price of the soft toy is £12.99, the outfits are £9.99 each and the accessory sets are £4.99 each but at the moment there is an offer on where you can purchase one of each of those for £19.99! This offer is available until 21st January 2011. I think this is a bargain personally and was very quick to take the offer up. After much ummming and ahhhing I chose the puppy, it was so hard to choose between that and the rabbit as they are both so cute and have long floppy ears but I just couldn't resist the puppy. The outfit I chose was the bedtime set, seeing the puppy dressed up in the little pink dressing gown was just too cute for words and then along with the bedtime accessory set too which is a little teddy and hot water bottle and the cutest mini slippers ever! The puppy comes in a lovely gift box, has its own passport and certificate for you to fill out which I think makes for a fantastic present. The puppy is a great size at 38cm which is a lovely size for a toddler in my opinion, but of course these soft toys aren't just restricted to children, I think they would make a lovely present for anyone! I have put the puppy and clothes away for my daughter for Christmas, so I can't comment on how much she likes it, but I am sure she will absolutely love it and will enjoy dressing it ready for bed, and for the day ahead. (I plan to buy at least one more outfit so she can change the clothes whenever she likes) All in all I am so impressed with the new designabear from Argos, I went into the bear factory last week while shopping in the Trafford Centre and can honestly say that I think this is as good quality as you will find in there and in my view this is cuter than any they sold! I would totally recommend people to check these out as a fantastic alternative to the Bear Factory, and as I say with Christmas fast approaching I think they make a great present for children and adults alike! I give the Designabear a full five out of five stars and it is a shame I can't award it more!! Thank you for reading my review :)
