Ok so The Build A Bear Workshop is a magical place where new teddies and other soft toys are created, with lots of tender loving care by their new and usually very excited owners. If you haven't yet been to the store then all this will be lost on you, but 'bear' with me and I shall explain.
We Choose a 'Hello Kitty' plush toy for just under £20 and she was created (ok children close your ears now) well when I say created, I mean stuffed in store, and given her very own heart, aww! Once she had been stitched we went off around the store looking for suitable Helly Kitty accessories.
The Build A Bear Workshop has an amazing range of clothing and accessories on sale to kit out your newly created bear, cat, monkey, tiger, kitty, frog or bunny, but with our lucky giftee, being a major Hello Kitty fan we decided to stick to choosing stuff from that range.
Thats how we ended up picking out the Hello Kitty Sequin Bag for our newly born kitten plush, after all what else would any young cool cat around town want to be seen with? The bag is just the right size for a young cool kitty cat to be seen out with, its got a neat little strap that is just the right length for your plush toy to be able to hold it on her arm.
The bag has a lovely sequined front to it, with a very sweet looking kitty face on it, complete with pretty sequined whiskers, nose and a cute girly pale pink sequined flower on one side. The one in the pic shown here is not the most recent design, so do look out for the newer flower encrusted one, if you are thinking about getting this.
The other side is material only and the whole thing comes in a nice gentle white tone. Your plush toy will be able to fit in her lippy and some pocket money safely into the bag. I think that we paid £4 to £4.50 for the bag on its own, which was fairly average in price when compared to the other accessories we could have picked.
I would say that the bag isn't very suitable for washing due to the sequin design, as that could fade or become damaged once in contact with water. Other than that we thought the bag was a sweet little extra for the kitty plush we choose. We also bought the matching Hello Kitty fuffy slippers which set the bag off a treat and the whole gift was very well received, so thanks to Build A Bear for stocking all the fab accessories we chose.
My little boy was having an 'emergency service ' themed birthday party a few weeks ago and as he'd already chosen that he wanted a build a bear workshop doggy as his present, we started looking for accesories for it!
You would not believe the selection of things this shop has for a teddy bear!!
Some of the most unbelievable items are ipods & phones, boxer shorts/knickers, handbags, football kits and even wheelchairs!! -yes for a teddybear!!
It did not take my little boy long to spot the fireman outfit amoungst the huge range, as he is fireman mad, hence the theme of the party!
The set is a 3 piece outfit that fits all the build a bears. It consists of a fireman hat, dungarees and a jacket and comes complete with a coat hanger!
The hat is made of a hard, durable plastic. It comes in black and has a BABW fire dept. badge on the front of it. It has a velcro strap attatched in order to secure it onto the teddys head. Although it is very cute, my son did take a bit of persuading that it was a real fireman hat as he is more familiar with the british yellow ones with visor (fireman sam style!)
The dungarees look like trousers when the are on with the jacket- the straps are just to secure over the teddy. They are elasticated waist and there is a hole at the back to allow room for the tail. They are red with a shiny black trim and they are made to a high standard.
The jacket is the same red/black design, and has a badge that reads 'firefighter' on the front. It easily fastens with velcro-great for little ones, the cutest feature is the hose attatched to the sleeve that has an elastic band so it can go over a paw and look like the teddy is holding it! This is very sweet and encourages imaginative play.
The jacket and dungarees are made from polyester fibrefill and are only suitable to handwash and line dry- to be honest a simple wipe over when needed is sufficient.
Although mainly aimed at kids, A bear with this outfit on would make a great novelty gift for a friend or relative that has just become a fireman themself!
The outfit cost £10 (this is the average price for a full set) and it is only available from Build a bear workshops.
Although to begin with my attitude was a bit "I could get a new top for myself at that price!!" it was actually a good buy and has provided many hours of fun, it boys up the doggy too, much to the approval of all the male relatives!!
Theres something for everyone in store and if your child is an aspiring firefighter, this is the outfit for them (well their bear!)
My sister's 10 and she's always been into Build A Bear so when I'm in town I'll buy her an outfit or something from there to go with her big bear collection. Last time I went in I got her a little raincoat for one of the bears and when I got to the till the lady asked if I wanted to choose a pair of shoes for £1.50 instead of their usual price of £5.00, there wasn't much choice so I got her a pair of these Hello Kitty slippers.
They are sooooo cute and made of pink furry material with a dead sweet Hello Kitty face motif on the front. The motif is big compared to the small size of the slippers so it stands out good and you can't miss that they are Hello Kitty themed.
The slippers fit on the bears feet better than most of the Build A Bear shoes because they are a bit elasticated along the tops, most of the shoes fall of the bears feet as soon as my sister starts playing properly.
They're a decoration, not a toy and not anything you'd use for anything. I think they are a wicked addition to my sister's wardrobe of Build A Bear clothes because they look wicked and it's cute listening her playing with her little mate and you can hear them putting the bears to bed and then waking them up and putting thier clothes and slippers on! lol
I don't think I'd want to pay £5.00 for them unless it was as part of a Xmas present or something but for the discounted price I paid I think it's ok because my sister loved them as soon as I gave them to her and she's looking after them carefully and hasn't lost one yet.
I was a bit suprised at seeing this item in the reviews list, but I own it so I'll quite happily rate it. There isn't that much to say about this item but I'll be a thorough as I can.
The Bear Factory has proven a big hit amoungst children over the past few years. They now sell practically everything that a teddy could ever want or need including tops, trousers, dresses, skirts, coats, shoes, hats, underwear, bags, skateboards, glasses, wigs and fancy dress outfits.
The Bear Factory has lots of different sized teddies. My daughter has an 18 inch Hello Kitty teddy which is one of the larger ones.
I decided to get her the Hello Kitty fuchsia top for her teddy because she loves Hello Kitty and I thought it would match her teddy nicely.
The top is a short sleeved t-shirt and is designed to stretch so it fits all Bear Factory teddies. It is bright pink and has a 2 light pink bows on the bottom of either side. It has a ruffle effect under the arms, down to the bottom of the top. The material is quite thin but strong - it has taken a battering from my daughter putting it on and taking it off countless amount of times. It has a big Hello Kitty face in the center of the top which is covered in glitter (but not the glitter that comes loose and gets everywhere).
This top is an essential part of the Hello Kitty summer wardrobe and looks good with all of her trousers, skirts and jackets.
It cost £4.50 which isn't much money but then you realise you could buy your child a top for that much let'll own a teddy!
I think it is fair to say that The Bear Factory is generally a big con but the kids love it and I suppose that's all that really matters at the end of the day.
