When we moved into our new house my son wanted to have a night light on every night. Whilst I wasn't overly bothered about doing this I was always going to open to other ideas. On a get together with one of my friends she told me about how she had seen some teddy bears in Asda which were selling for £10.00 which was apparently half the price of what they were selling for in other places. The bear was called the Glo-e Magical light up bear and lit up when you pressed it. This seemed like a good idea so I went and bought one for my son and put it away for Christmas. You could buy them in pink, blue and white. I chose white for my son.
Now my bear is ever so slightly different to the bear in the picture as it didn't come with a wand. The bear comes packaged in a cardboard box but you do have access to the bear to feel it and try it out. The bear is super soft and about 16" tall I think. There is a Glo-e logo on the bears hand which you press to make the light come on. When you initially press it you will see a red colour on the teddys tummy, upper arms and cheeks. This changes colour and will go yellow, green, blue, rainbowy, a lighter blue, purple and then pink before going back to red. You can leave it on to do this and it will go on for around 30 minutes or you can press the logo again and switch the colours off.
The light that the bear gives off is not too bright but is enough just to provide a night light type effect for your child with the added bonus of being a teddy bear to cuddle too. The lights changing are actually quite soothing and relaxing to watch too.
My son slept with this bear for around 3 months or so after Christmas time before giving up on it. I think this is because he was just getting older and more settled. He was four when I bought it which I know is quite old to have a light changing teddy bear but it helped him for a few months so I don't regret buying it at all however it would have probably been of more use had I bought it a couple of years earlier!
I have noticed that looking online this particular Glo-e bear doesn't seem to be available anymore however there are other alternatives around which seem to be selling on Argos and Amazon and the like.
All in all I would recommend a teddy bear like this one. It is sweet, soft and provides comfort for a child who is not keen on the dark and may help them develop confidence to not have a night light on after a while.
