My ten year old daughter is a massive fan of the Despicable Me movies, she saw the first one on DVD and I took her to see the 2nd one at the cinema for her birthday. Her favourite characters are (of course) the Minions, they certainly are popular at the moment and I am sure you have seen them prominently displayed in all toy shops and stalls this Christmas. I treated my daughter to a Minion plushie a few months back whilst on holiday. There are two minion plushies available - Dave & Stewart - My daughter chose the latter. Stewart is bright yellow, he is quite rounded and plump in shape with plenty of stuffing to make him nice and cuddly. He is of a decent size, being neither overly big or ridiculously small, my daughter can hold him easily in both hands and easily carry him around with her. Stewart is wearing his trademark blue dungarees which display the Gru logo, he only has one eye which is in the middle of his face and covered by his goggles, (or should that be goggle?). He has a few flecks of black hair on top of his head and a nice smiling face. My daughter and I both agree, he is very cute! I wouldn't say Stewart is a toy my daughter plays with on a regular basis but thats not to say she doesn't absolutely adore him. Whilst she doesn't play with him she does give him plenty of cuddles and I often find her cuddled up to him on the sofa whilst watching TV and of course at bedtime too. Stewart is still in a good clean condition. I haven't needed to wash him yet, but when the time comes I will probably hand wash rather than machine, just in case. There is a small rip under his right arm where some of the stitching has come away and some of the stuffing is poking out, I shall be stitching this back up today. Apart from this small fault Stewart is looking pretty good and we have had no other problems with him. When we first bought Stewart he had a cardboard tag attached to him which was quickly removed by my daughter. There is also a label attached to his side which shows the Despicable Me 2 logo and that this is an official Minion. I imagine there are a fair few fakes out there, so its well worth double checking you are getting the real deal. Stewart is a lovely cute cuddly Minion and one which any Despicable Me fan will love, young or old! I think he would make a great Christmas present which would be well loved. I give Stewart four Dooyoo stars out of five, knocking one star off for the rip under his arm. I paid around £8 for Stewart, a quick look online shows me prices vary between £5 - £10, so its certainly worth shopping around to get a good deal. Delivery charges may apply for online orders.
I absolutely adore the film Despicable Me and in particular I love the little yellow minions that work for Gru and what are in effect his family as well as his workers. They make me laugh just by looking at them and so I was super excited when I received a parcel through the door and realised once I opened it up that it was a minion! A boy I was seeing had been listening to me whitter on about minions and been sweet and arranged for one to be sent to me through amazon. This is my review of my minion! What makes me laugh is the minions all have names which you wouldn't really give an alien such as Dave! The minion that I have is called Stewart. Stewart is around nine inches tall and he is quite round and so it is quite a good sized soft toy. It isn't huge but it isn't small either and so I am happy with the size of this one especially because I have it sat on my bed! Stewart is a one eyed minion and he is wearing goggles as he would in the film. He is also dressed in little blue overalls, black boots and black gloves which again is just like he would look in the film so there is no mistaking what your soft toy is. The likeness is brilliant and I think they have got everything right from the colour to the build and general stance of the soft toy. He isn't the softest feeling soft toy and I suppose that is because I am comparing it with the super soft Disney soft toys that I also have. I can't find information on what it is made from but I would hazard a guess at polyester. It is certainly filled with polyester fibres and it is well filled so the minion keeps its form and shape really well. This is more the kind of soft toy that I personally would keep on display anyway, and let's face it I am a bit old to be playing with soft toys now anyway! The minion does seem really well made though and the stitching isn't visible so it probably would hold up to a child playing with it if they wanted. This Stewart minion soft toy is currently on sale on amazon for £5.90 but you need to add a postage and packing charge as £4.08 on top of this. I do think this soft toy is worth paying around ten pounds for though in terms of quality and the way it is so like the minions in the film but I wouldn't say it is worth much more than that. You may be able to pick up the toys from other places now the second film has been released too should you be interested. Thank you for reading my review!
My daughter and I are big fans of the film Despicable Me and couldn't wait for Despicable Me 2 to come out in cinemas this summer! I recently bought my daughter a 'Despicable Me 2' Minion toy from the movie. Despicable Me centres around a man called Gru who is a loveable villain that adopts 3 girls in a bid to steal the moon... long story! He also has a large number of Minions who live with him and work for him. Minions are small, pill-shaped, yellow creatures who all look almost identical. They are strange but cute looking. Most of them have two eyes but some have one eye and all of them wear goggles and overalls. I wasn't aware that the Minions had different names but it turns out they do! Our Minion is called Stewart. I choose a one-eyed Minion as my daughter seems to favour one-eyed Minions over two-eyed Minions! I looked at a few different Minions before deciding on this one. This one seemed like better quality than many others, plus I liked the fact its eye sticks out rather than being printed on to its face - it gives it much more character and makes it look more 'real'. The tag informs me the toy is made by Whitehouse Leisure and is surface washable. It also includes the official 'Despicable Me 2' and 'Universal Studios' logos. Our Minion looks very silly but really cute! He looks just like he does in the film and is totally recognisable. He wears one-eyed goggles (with black strap around his head), blue overalls (with 'G' for Gru on the front pocket) and has black shoes and gloves on. He also has black strands of hair stitched in to the top of his head and a little smile stitched underneath his goggles. The Minion measures 10 inches tall and 7 inches wide (9 if you include the arms). It's a really generous size, but not too big (just about the right size to snugly fit in to my daughters arms). It's also round and pretty chunky. It's stuffed full of fluff and is really soft and squidgy. The outer material is really soft and smooth too (his overalls are a different texture but still quite soft). The size, roundness, softness and squidgyness make this Minion the perfect plush. My daughter hasn't put it down since I bought it. It goes out in the car with her, to the shops with her and she is currently refusing to go to bed without him (although I guess this will change when she gets a new toy!). He is very huggable so I don't really blame her. He seems very safe, there don't appear to be any hazards and he's very robust. He is sure to please all Despicable Me fans (young and old) and would even make a good collectable. I am actually planning to buy more Minions to rival Gru! I bought Stewart the Minion from Amazon for £6.99 (plus £2.99 postage) and highly recommend him to fellow Minion lovers!
