My daughter loves everything Disney, but particularly the characters from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, which includes the most famous of them all, Mickey Mouse! My daughter has a huge collection of soft toys from the Disney store, including this large (although they advertise him as being medium sized) plush Mickey Mouse toy. He normally costs £20 but I have also seen him several times priced at £10 as a special offer. According to the Disney store website, he is suitable for children aged 12 months and over.
The toy is around 50cm tall at full stretch and around 35cm wide at his widest point with his arms stretched out, with the rest of his body being around 25cm wide. His arms are very floppy and perfect for cuddles! Mickey has a large head and face which is slightly out of proportion to the rest of his body, complete with ears that are strong and designed to keep rigid and upright. He comes with a long thin tail that my daughter often uses to drag him around with - poor Mickey!
The toy comes dressed in the original Mickey Mouse outfit of yellow shoes, red shorts and white gloves at the end of his arms. Everything is stitched into the main body so it is all one unit, meaning that there is no option to remove any of the clothing - personally though I think that's a good thing because it eliminates the chance of losing anything from him while we're out. On the bottom of his shoe there is also a label sewn in showing his stamp of authenticity from the Disney store. If ordered from the website, there is also the option to have him personalised for example with a child's name, but that's not something we've ever looked at doing. If personalised, the message appears on the bottom of his other shoe.
The whole toy is very soft to touch - he has a velvety feel to him so he's not ideal to clean, although my daughter threw yoghurt all over him on the first day of owning him and I managed to get that out and make him look good as new by wiping him clean with a damp cloth a couple of times. Since then, wiping him clean seems to have worked well enough, although he does take a bit of time to dry thoroughly. He is only designed to be surface cleaned. He is filled with soft stuffing, but also has bean bag filling inside his tummy and bottom - that is perfect for helping him sit upright whenever she places him on a chair. He remains upright until she next goes to pick him up.
My daughter absolutely loves this toy. I can say to her 'where's Mickey?' and she beams straight away, running to him and grabbing him. She always gives a huge smile while she gives him a huge cuddle and carries him around with her everywhere she goes. She's even started to treat him a little like a doll and whenever she gets her beaker of water, she'll put it to Mickey's mouth and try to give him a drink too (covering him in more water in the process!). He gets dragged all over the place but he's handled it all pretty well and still looks in pretty good condition. There are a number of other toys in the set (we own Minnie and Donald too) and they are all of a similar, high quality.
I would recommend this toy as he is definitely a favourite in our house, although I would look out for him at the offer price rather than full price as I feel £20 is incredibly expensive for what essentially is a cuddly toy. He is adorable though - very cuddly and soft and perfect for children who love all things Disney.
Thanks for reading :o)
