My 21 month old daughter became obsessed with Special Agent Oso from Playhouse Disney / Disney Junior as it is now - about 6 months ago. Special Agent Oso is a James Bond type character who is training to be a special agent but gets called away to special assignments to help kids in need.
When I discovered that you could get a cuddly plush Special Agent Oso from the Disney Store it seemed an ideal gift for my daughter. Little did I know they would be like golsd dust to get hold of! As soon as they came into the store they were all sold out again! We eventually got one on Ebay -probably paid slightly over the odds but it was worth it to see my daughter's first when she first saw him!
This is a large plus toy, about 30 cm high and is an extremely tactile thing. He comes complete with waistcoat, paw pilot badge and Mr Dose wristwatch.
This makes an ideal companion for my daughter when she is playing on the floor - he gets used as a cuddling buddy, something squishy to lean on when looking at books, And even a mountain to climb over when exploring!
This was a great purchase for my daughter, and I am sure you will love it too!
My daughter was obsessed with Special Agent Oso just after she turned 3. My husband always gets the kids a couple of Christmas presents that I don't know about, and last Christmas he bought my daughter Special Agent OSO from the Disney store.
I cannot even describe the sheer joy on her face when she opened this present. It by far surpassed any other present she opened that day! She was just thrilled.
Oso is really, really soft and he is about a foot tall. Unlike other soft toys that are recreating a cartoon from the TV Oso actually looks just like he does on the TV.
He has on his Mr Dos watch and his paw pilot badge.
Now my little girl is almost 4 she plays with Oso in her imaginary play games, he is 'the superhero' when another toy is in peril!!!
Special agent Oso is machine washable! It does not say this on the label (the usual sponge clean only) but after a particularly bad vomit incident, He has to go in the washing machine and then tumble drier and he survived!!
I would say if your son or daughter is into Oso on the TV then This lovely, cuddly special agent is definitely an OSO special choice!!
One of my little girls favourite new characters is Special Agent Oso, and in the run up to her birthday she decided that she wanted an Oso theme and toys which was a bit of a nightmare for me as I had almost finished my shopping and had gone with a Mickey Mouse theme as that was all she wanted to watch!
For those that are unaware of who Special Agent Oso is I will explain. Special Agent Oso is a reasonably new series on the Playhouse Disney channel and features a bright colourful bear, Oso, who is training to be a special agent. While progressing through his own training, Oso is called upon by his boss Mr Dos to complete a special assignment in which he will need to help a child complete a menial task such as blowing bubbles, making a birthday card, taking a photograph and many many more. Oso has a computerised assistant called Paw Pilot who is attached to his jacket and he can call upon her at all times, and she gives him his three special steps to complete each assignment. Oso is voiced by Sean Astin (probably best known as Mikey from the Goonies, or Samwise Gamgee in Lord of the Rings trilogy).
I kept checking on the Disney website as it was announced that there would be a range of Special Agent Oso toys released before Christmas but there was no date supplied and time was getting on. I checked on Ebay and saw that there was an Oso plush on sale but they were selling at prices well over £30 which I thought was way too much to pay just for a teddy, but at the same time I didn't want to disappoint my daughter as it was something that she was continually asking for. One afternoon my mum asked me to take her to the Trafford Centre as she needed to pick something up from the Disney Store, and as we were queuing up to pay, one of the store assistants was just placing two Oso teddies on the shelf! I quickly ran over to grab one before they got snapped up and the assistant advised me to buy them both as there was money to be made, sadly I hadn't taken my purse!
The Oso teddy is incredibly soft to the touch, and feels almost like velour so it is ideal for snuggling up to! As soon as I felt how soft the teddy is I thought it would be a perfect bedtime teddy for my daughter. The design of Oso is just as he appears on the tv show - he is bright yellow with a big white tummy and he is wearing his usual green gloves. His paw prints on his feet, the rim of his ears and around his eyes are the same shade of green also. Oso is wearing his special agent jacket and this is where Paw Pilot is attached on the right hand side. He is also wearing his special watch through which his boss contacts him with his new assignments.
The face of the teddy is cute and smiley, again just as he appears in the show and his mouth is open slightly so you can just see a couple of his teeth which look dead cute! I think the teddy has been extremely well made, as you would expect from the Disney Store, he appears to be long lasting.
I am slightly disappointed with one aspect of this teddy, and that is where the Paw Pilot badge is as it simply shows a paw print on there which it does on the show but I think the teddy would have been improved if Paw Pilot had been shown as my daughter doesn't seem to understand why she won't appear! That said I am really happy I was able to pick up this teddy for my little girl as she does love it to bits. I was surprised that she didn't want to use it as a bedtime teddy but she likes to play with him downstairs with some of her other Oso toys.
I was lucky enough to pick up Special Agent Oso for £20.00 (if I remember rightly) but they are now being sold on Ebay and Amazon for the ridiculous prices of £40 all the way up to £80!!! If you wish to purchase one of these teddies for your little one I would suggest to keep trying the Disney Store as they apparently do get a few in every couple of months.
I would recommend the Oso teddy, as it is a lovely and really well made bear that is so cuddly and a must for any little Oso fan!
Thank you for reading my review :)
After campaigning and badgering the Disney Store for months about releasing a Special Agent Oso bear, I was one of the first to be notified when this super soft plush arrived on the website. I have never reached for my credit card as fast as I did that morning. My son, then only four months old, was absolutely mesmerised by this bear and one of the only ways to calm him down was to sing the theme tune to him.
The day the box arrived I let him flip the top open and his eyes were as wide as saucers. His little arms reached into the box and grabbed out Oso...and held on tight. He ADORES him. Even now, 6 months later, he still greets him with an enormous rib-cracking hug (if the bear had ribs).
Oso is very light unlike most of the Disney plushes. His fur is super soft and his squishyness (I hope that's a word) makes him the best hugging partner and he doesn't hurt if you like to dive onto him like my son. His eyes are embroidered and so no eye-plucking can take place, and he has all of his accessories. He's about 14 inches tall when seated. He looks exactly like Oso ~ some plushes do not resemble their on screen personae which I hate. Oso was priced at £15 when I bought him and for the look on my son's face it was completely worth it. He has pride of place in his cot.
What I would have liked:
I wish Paw Pilot was slightly interactive ~ maybe a hologram and a beeping light or something. That would have been cooler. Oso's coat is also sewn to him which makes it a pain if your son likes to try and feed Oso.
Like a lot of toddlers my son is obsessed with Special Agent Oso on the Playhouse Disney channel. Finally Disney have caught up and now have a range of toys based on the series. The first to be launched in the UK is the 14" plush soft toy of Special Agent Oso himself.
He's unbelievably soft and cuddly I'm tempted not to give it to my son for his birthday and keep it for myself! It features his special agents watch and a vinyl paw pilot.
As you'd expect from Disney he is very well made. He doesn't do anything special it's just a cuddly toy. My son's face when I took him into the shop to get it was a picture and he high fived him straight away.
I bought mine from the Disney shop in Cardiff for £15 and it's also available online from Disney. Of course you can get the usual over-priced toys on Ebay but most of them are charging about £25 plus postage!
Towards the end of the year there are more toys coming out including action figures.
A lovely gift for a little one.
