Too cute to be an actual Dalek, but a great present nonetheless!

These are far too adorable to be accurate representations of the Daleks! The toy is available in various different colours and sizes; I have a small red one on a keyring as well as a 9 inch blue one. It would make a perfect present for any Whovian, young or old.

The design is based on Steven Moffat's re-design of the Daleks as featured in 'Victory of the Daleks', an episode of Doctor Who written by Mark Gatiss. They were met with varied reactions from fans as the design marks quite a departure from the traditional Dalek styles. Personally, I love the rainbow style, particularly for a plush toy. It may look less threatening and scary than the Daleks we are all used to but that just adds to the uniqueness.

I've seen these available in many different shops, for example, Hamleys and in comic book stores that also sell merchandise. Failing that, they are widely available online. When you press the Dalek's centre, a voice screams 'Exterminate!' which will amuse or terrify even the hardest of Whovians. It also says ''You would make a good Dalek'; these are quotes from the show and easily recognisable.

I'd recommend these as a present, particularly for younger Doctor Who fans. There is a whole range of merchandise that can be purchased alongside this item allowing one to build up a real collection, for example, a TARDIS in the same cartoonish style. They are particularly suitable for younger fans as they are soft and so can't cause any injury (a 'safe' Dalek may seem to be contrary to what the point of them is, of course!)
