My five year old son is crazy about all things Mr Men, so when I am out shopping, the Mr Men merchandise tends to jump off the shelf, screaming "Buy Me!". It has got to a stage where I can't walk past Mr Men merchandise without at least stopping and having a little look. I first saw this big plush Mr messy toy in the back of one of the parent's cars that was parked near the school every day. My son noticed it too, and got really excited every time he saw the car. I had not seen the toy in the shops anywhere, and then, quite by accident, when shopping in Tesco, I noticed Mr Messy sitting on the shelf, on offer for half price at £10. It was love at first sight, and I took him home, much to the delight of the kids! The toy is quite big, measuring 18 inches tall and 11 inches wide. He is made from a very soft, fluffy material, which is lovely to cuddle up to. His eyes and mouth and laces on his shoes are embroidered on, so that gives the toy an added safety aspect for young children, as there are no sharp bits or small pieces that can be pulled off the toy. He has a really happy face, and you cannot help but look at the toy and smile. The toy is stuffed loosely with soft polysester fibre, which gives the toy a very soft, cushioned feel. In fact, you could actually double up this toy as a scatter cushion, as he is perfect for resting your head on after a long, stressful day! The toy is made by brand leaders Fisher Price, who seem to have the rights to the manufacture of the Mr men toys, as all the other Mr Men toys we have are also made by Fisher Price. To me, this is a guarantee of good quality. Mr Messy is a favourite soft toy in our house, and gets played with a lot. My son likes to carry him around, and also make stories with Mr Messy and the other soft toys, as well as snuggling up to him at bedtime. This is a great toy for Mr Men fans, and would appeal across generations from the very young, like my son, to the older Mr Men fans. This would look fantastic in a teenager's bedroom, or any pink- themed room as an accessory. Mr Messy has wide appeal, and has changed very little in appearance from the original Mr Men books by Roger Hargreaves. The label states that the toy is surface washable only, but I wouldn't have any problems with handwashing this in lukewarm water and leaving him on the line to dry. After all, he IS Mr Messy, and he is bound to get a bit grubby with all the cuddles he gets! As for our Mr Messy toy, he gets pride of place on the living room armchair. Long may the Mr Men continue to entertain kids young and old!
