      Jellycat monkey

When my son was first born my brother and sister in law bought him this adorable monkey for a birth present. At first I was unaware that it was a Jellycat product as it looked a bit diferent from their usual really soft cuddly animals but upon inspecting the tag I saw it was and was pleased as I love the brand and was excited to have another cool soft toy in the house (I'm a big kid really, any excuse to carry around a cuddly monkey!) He's also become one of my sons constant companions and he is always carrying him around with him which is very cute to see.

Jelly Cat was established in London in 1999 and is one of the world's leading soft toys designers and manufacturers. This monkey is called Slackajack monkey as he is from the Slackajacks range. He is characterised with long gangly dangly arms and legs and tails and has a shorter more scruffy fur than the usual cuddly Jellycat teddies.

I love the look of this monkey and to me he looks more like a monkey that some other of their toys do. His fur is really cute I think and I like that it is short and clipped and I think it looks especially good around his mouth where that kind of fur looks quite authentic. Even though his fur is scruffy it is still quite soft, one of the wonderful characteristics of a Jellycat toy.

He has contrasted brown coloured fur on him with his body made of quite a dark brown fur and his mouth, hands and feet made of a light brown. I like the different colours and think they work well together.

The dangly arms are so funny and make him look really funny, especially if you shake him up as down as this makes his arms and legs go all over the place. I do this to my little boy all the time and he thinks its the funniest thing ever, it really makes him giggle. THe pads of his hands and feet have little bean bag beans in them, as does his bottom so even though he is quite floppy and bendy you can sit this monkey down on his bottom and then position his arms and feet in quite a few funny and strange positions. Monkey also has a long tail behind him too that bends slightly at the end and that you can also swing around and have fun with.

Monkey is a little bit more expensive than some Jellycat toys. The website lists him as £13.50 but I still think this is a great price for a wonderful monkey friend!
