Jellycat Truffles Puppy Dog
Advantages: Cosy, cute, cuddly, attractive, soft, well made & MINE!
Disadvantages: Kids keep nicking him.
Cold winter nights drawing in? Couch potato syndrome lurking? You need Truffles the puppy dog.
I'd always assumed that cuddly toys were for children and I guess most are aimed at the young, but this soft toy is definitely mine and it is definitely me who gets first cuddle...
Jellycat toys are well known for the quality of their soft toys. Established in London in 1999, they describe themselves as a luxury soft toy company, fast becoming a lifestyle company. Reading this before meeting Truffles I would have dismissed it as wishful marketing, but now that Truffles is mine (and MINE ALONE!!) I understand their claim of all age appeal.
True they are fluffy, stuffed bags of material, but they have character in their design and even a certain sophistication. A look at all the jellycat products available show thoughtful design - cute, expressionful, cuddly, attractive...
Puppy dog is MY new gift and is quite the cutest toy I have had the pleasure to meet. The photo here hints at the hopeful expression on his face and in the flesh he his even more soulful - just begging for attention.
Fair enough, you may say, lots of toys are cute but that doesn't mean I'm going to revert to spending all my pocket money on teddies and hide them when visitors arrive. Worry not! This pup is not just a toy - it's a 38cm tummy warmer! The pic here shows him sitting up. His other trick is to splay flat in almost a rectangle shape giving you a perfect pillow. Sit him across your tummy when snuggled up on the sofa and I guarantee you will fall in love!
The fur is so sumptuous that you will find yourself stroking the pup's ears. All the joys of a pet with none of the poop scooping!
Truffles Puppy bears a set of labels by his tail. One bears the distinctive Jellycat logo and contact address. The smaller few behind bear info about safety and stuffing. I can't decide whether to chop these or not. Usually they get in the way on cuddly toys but these are sufficiently unobtrusive and attractive enough and have become part of Pup's personality.
Being aimed at children too, of course, safety is an issue. The website blurb declares:
"Our priority is absolute safety in the manufacturing and choice of materials in all our items. We comply and exceed EN71 European Testing standard and ASTM the American Testing standard.
We are committed with our production partners to ensure responsible working conditions." Sounds pretty plausible.

My truffles jellycat puppy was a gift from someone who has just elevated himself to best friend status. If you want one or want to curry favour with someone special then you need to part with about £15. Sounds pricey, but for this you are getting cute friend; pillow; tummy warmer and sofa arm draper (looks great when not in use waiting patiently on the arm of the couch!) and CC says he's worth every penny.
Now to track down a sheep and friesan cow to stop my kiddies nicking MY PUPPY!
Summary: Get your own and settle in for the night.
