JML Sleepy Pal
On the lead up to Christmas 2011, as usual, there were loads of adverts on the children's television channels for various toys. One which my little one picked up on were 'Huggle Buddies' which were being advertised at £19.99 plus another £4.99 postage and packaging which I thought was extortionate! Of course, little children believe Santa can bring anything though we had to explain to our little one that Santa likes to bring some toys she asks for and surprise her with ones she didn't also as there was no way I was prepared to pay such a high price for a glorified soft toy!
About a week before Christmas, when doing our final Christmas shop, we went into a new shop in our local shopping mall. Unfortunately, I can not remember the name of the shop as it was only there for Christmas. Just when we were about to leave the store, I spotted a range of different Huggle Buddies! I couldn't quite believe it when I saw the price of £6.00 for the smaller ones and £9.99 for the larger ones! Of course, these were a slightly different make to the ones advertised on television, though to me, they looked exactly the same! We picked up one of the smaller ones and immediately bought it!
There are many different types in this range which cover everything from unicorns to pigs. We bought our little one the ladybird sleepy pal as she loves ladybirds (plus the unicorn which she wanted was the larger ones and we didn't think she needed such a big one!)
The first thing I noticed was just how soft this ladybird was. It is so furry that I could help trying it out myself before wrapping it up! It is of the colours of a ladybird with its body being part of the pillow when laid out flat. The head comes out the front and is just as soft.
The main idea of this 'toy' is that it can be laid out as a pillow and then curled around and stuck together with Velcro to make it into a cuddly toy which you can also put your pj's in securely if you are going for a sleepover.
As a pillow, this toy is lovely and soft and my little one loves sleeping with it on her bed at night. As a toy, it is once again lovely, and as a pj carrier, it works really well. My little one has slept around her nanny's house since Christmas and her ladybird plus pj's came with her!
Although it has only been a few weeks since Christmas, the Velcro is still working well, though I can see in the future that the Velcro will one day lose its stick which is another reason I would not pay £20 for it.
My little one absolutely loves her ladybird friend and it goes everywhere with her. At the lower price that the Huggle Buddy price, I would say that this is a great buy and am so glad we found it for her.
There's nothing I love more than having a nice snuggle with my little girl and watching a film - which is usually Alice In Wonderland which is her absolute favourite!! She really likes to get a blanket to snuggle under and quite often will want one of her large teddies to lay her head on but this isn't the most comfy thing in my opinion! One afternoon I was out shopping with my mum in a local town centre and in the mall there was a large stand selling Sleepy Pals which I had never previously heard of though my mum had seen them advertised on television. I have to say they are the cutest and softest things I have seen in a long long time! Unfortunately there were no prices on so I had to ask the assistant who informed me they were £19.99 each which really put me off so I decided to forget about them.
However, the week before Christmas I was in Asda and spotted the Sleepy Pals on sale and on offer at £25.00 for two! Bargain! So two of them were put straight into my trolley!! So, what is a Sleepy Pal?
"A Sleepy Pal is a loveable, huggable pet who makes the perfect playtime friend and turns into a full size comfortable pillow in an instant!" The sleepy pal is fastened together at the bottom with velcro to make it compact and like a soft toy that can be played with or cuddled, and when it is unfastened it folds out into the pillow. When it is fastened together you have the added option to use it as a pyjama case although there is a possible chance of it unfastening and your pj's dropping out!
There are various designs in the sleepy pal range - Honey the Bee, Dotty the Ladybird, Lucky the Dog, and Billy the Bear. I chose the bee and the ladybird because they are just so adorable! I decided to give my daughter the bee for her birthday, which is the one I am reviewing today and I kept the ladybird for me (I'm just a big kid!)
Honey the Bee is a very appealing, brightly coloured little bee. She has a bright red nose which stands out really well against the bright yellow and black, and an adorable smile. She has two small antennae on top of her head and bright yellow cushioned wings on her back. Her "feet" are black which again really stands out against the bright yellow base. Attached to the sleepy pal you will find a tag on which you can write if it is to be a present and it says:
"I have been adopted by......." and "I live in ........" I think this is a really nice touch if it is something you decide to give as a present.
We have used the sleepy pals simply as pillows when we are just chilling out watching television or a film and I have even used my ladybird one to sleep on! They are so comfortable to lie on and the soft furry fabric feels lovely against your face and makes you feel warm so it is very easy to drift off while lying on one of these!
The sleepy pals are made by JML, so with that you know you are getting quality and they are quite often advertised on television now - since buying them I have seen the advert many many times! As I said earlier in my review, the sleepy pals retail at £19.99 but you may find them on offer at certain retailers just as I did at Asda. While I do really like them, I am unsure as to whether I would be prepared to pay the full price for one so I am really happy with getting two for just over the price of one.
It is important to note that the sleepy pals are unsuitable for children under the age of three, to which I presume is because of a possible choking hazard. The sleepy pal can be washed but not above 30 degrees and must not be tumble dried. It is stated on the tag that the toy conforms to Toy Safety Standars EN71-1/2/3.
I would happily recommend the sleepy pals as they are super cute, super comfy and very very hard to resist!!
Thank you for reading my review :)
