Last year, my boyfriend treated me to this little bear just as a one off surprise out of the blue after I had a gloomy week of exams and stress. It is one of the bears from the popular Me To You collection, and this one in particular is the 'Holding Rose Soft Toy'. It is available in a smaller 5 inch size, however the one I own and the one displayed in the image is the slightly larger 7 inch and the dimensions are 17 x 12 x 13cm.

I was thrilled to receive this as a gift and I think it would be most appropriate to purchase as a gift for your other half. You receive it as shown in the image, and the bear is sat down on a cardboard surface to enable it to stand up. However, when I received mine due to the cardboard not being particularly sturdy it was all ripped and looked awfully messy which was unfortunate as it ruined the presentation of it. I originally kept the bear stood up on this surface, however decided to take it out and just have it on its own.

The Me To You bear otherwise known as the Tatty Teddy is a very popular choice of soft toy and is well known, and is especially well known for its little blue nose which makes it awfully cute! This teddy is only small, but big enough to make an impression with a gift. It is grey in colour and very soft to touch. Unlike the packaging, the bear itself is of an excellent quality and has lovely detailing all over it. Some of the details I like most about this teddy are its little blue nose, the rose it is holding which is of a decent size and is quite detailed. In between the bears feet is a little note which says 'With Love' on fabric which is lovely. I just think this bear is so cute and is perfect for people of all ages. In addition to this, attached on the ear is a little book for you to have a flick through and this gives it a nice little touch, however it does look a bit silly so you could cut this off if you wanted.

Despite being a lovely bear aesthetically, I have found one problem with it. Because I want this to be more of a display bear than one I put on my bed, I wanted to keep it in the stand. As I had to remove it, I have found it quite difficult to keep the bear standing up. Because of the weight of the upper part, it means that the bear sometimes falls forward, and when you get it to stand up it is facing down so you can not see it too well. I was a little disappointed with this as I wanted it to be on display for everyone to see.

The bear itself retails at £9.99 which I think is quite steep for the size of the bear, however it is mainly paying for the brand of the soft toy. It is available from Clintons Cards which is where mine was purchased from, although I'm sure it is widely available as many Me To You bears are. As I did not pay for mine, I am completely happy with it, however I am not sure that I personally would spend ten or so pounds on something so little.

Overall, this is a lovely little gift and would be perfect for your other half's birthday, as a valentines gift or maybe even just as a nice little surprise like how I received. It is a really thoughtful present and the bear is of an extremely high quality and is just that little bit better than your average teddy due to its little details. I will have to knock off one star simply because I think £9.99 is far too high to pay for something like this and I do not think the size of the bear justifies the price.
