Tatty Teddy's are teddy bears produced by the Carte Blanche greeting card company, you can buy these cute little fellows in a wide variety of sizes with different themes such as birthday, newborn, anniversary, just to name a few. The bears come holding signs, hearts or numbers, wearing cute clothing or naked like the cheeky little chap pictured above. I think they make wonderful gifts and I am always happy to receive a Tatty Teddy.
My Tatty Teddy was given to me as a gift from my daughters on mothers day a few years back now, it was part of a set that also came with a cup. My Tatty Teddy is predominantly placed at the side of my bed, I absolutely love him, not only is he really cute but he was given to me by the two most special people in my life.
Like most Tatty Teddy's, my little bear is grey and fluffy, he feels super soft to touch, he has a decent amount of stuffing inside. Mine is quite small so he's one for displaying rather than cuddling. He has two little black eyes which can barely be seen for all his fluff. The trademark "sewn on" patches are located on his head and foot. He also has a cute little blue nose, this is the only hard piece. This is a mothers day themed teddy, and so he is holding a pink sign saying "Best Mum" and the brand "Me to you" is written on his foot. He is in a seated position, his bottom is slightly weighted so he sits well by himself and doesn't fall over - unless my bedside table is knocked.
I look after my bear, looking at him now he is still looking pretty good with no visible signs of wear and tear. Perhaps if he was played with with a child it would be a different story though!
There is a tag on bears bottom which shows that this is an official Me to you bear made by Carte Blanche, its certainly worth checking you are getting the real thing, I am sure there are many fakes out there.
Tatty Teddy's make wonderful gifts and they are a variety available to suit pretty much any occasions. They can be quite expensive, but they are handmade to a high standard. They can be bought online from places like Amazon and from some greeting card shops too, prices vary depending on size and theme.
I have half a dozen Tatty Teddy Bears (also known as Me to You and Blue Nose Bears) each of these bears represents a date in my life for which the bear has been brought. I have one from Valentines clutching a small red rose. I have one from my birthday, a couple of Christmas ones all wrapped up in cosy looking winter jackets and a couple of plain ones.
What I like about these cute little bears is the incredibly soft dusky grey fur and there cute little blue nose. Each bear has tiny black plastic eyes that are quite closely set together on the front of the bears face above the protruding snout.
Each bear is incredibly well made and I have never had one fall apart on me or leak his stuffing. The ears, tail, arms and legs are really well attached. Each bear usually has a couple of sewn on patches that make him look like he has been repaired. The patches are usually on the bottom, on the tummy and on the face. This is what makes each bear look so lovable. On one of the bears feet, usually the left there will be a sewn on foot pad that says Me to You.
I like that the bears are themed as this helps me remember what occasion each bear was brought for. If the bear is holding an item it will be well sewn onto the paws of the bear.
My bears are only small. About six inches in height as they sit on there well rounded bottoms. The head, arms and legs are stuffed with wadding but the tummies are filed with beans which help the bear sit neatly without toppling over.
The small six inch bears that I own cost roughly £10 a piece, if the bear was not so well made I would think this was terribly over priced. As the bears get larger in size so does the price tag. The bears can be brought new on Amazon UK or from places such as Clintons Cards and other gift shops. A lot of people sell these bears on after relationships have ended so good quality second hand ones can be found on eBay.
I think Tatty Teddy Bears make great gifts and tokens of affection for those who are near and dear to us. There are lots to choose from so there is always one suitable for every occasion and the prices are suitable for most pockets. When I receive a Tatty Teddy it has meaning for me and it is a soft toy that I will keep and have out on display in my bedroom for years.
Thank you for reading.
When I was a little younger, I received a Me to You teddy as a gift. It was £17.99 which I thought was extortionate for 'just' a teddy bear, especially as at that time I was unaware of quite how popular the brand was.
The teddy is very simplistic and wears only a red t-shirt. The message on this t-shirt is "I love you this much" and there is also a heart to the left of it. The point being that the outstretched arms of the teddy reflects how much the giver (or teddy even) loves the receiver.
My teddy is what I would call medium sized, which is about 12". You can also purchase much larger teddies for an incredible price. My Grandad, for example bought my Nanny a huge teddy they named George (don't ask me why!) for around the £400 mark. This is something I would never ever think to spend on a teddy bear, but she appreciated it, and he had the money to spend so why not.
There is a tag on the left ear which I was reluctant to pull off even at a young age, and I'm glad I didn't as I later learnt that most people leave this on and should I choose to sell the item (on ebay for example) it would improve the price, if even only a few pound.
Me to You:
The brand from Carte Blanche, has evolved greatly over the years, expanding from simple teddy bears to elaborate scenes, photo albums, mugs and even oversized headphones. The brand exudes quality, and all of their products are equally as well crafted and appealing as the other. For the purpose of this review however, I have attempted to focus much moreso on the 'Tatty Teddy' as it is quite appropriately named, but I still think if the brand as a whole appeals to you, you should check out their many other items for sale.
The teddies are all sweet looking and are great as gifts in particular. When I was younger and unsure of what to buy my friends as gifts, I frequently purchased small decorative Me to You teddies, which came sitting on a little box with a message written on it. They often incorporated themes such as gingerbreadmen, Christmas, Valentines Day etc. and I would definitely recommend them as they are a cheaper alternative to the larger 'real' thing. The quality is definitely there, and the teddies remain new looking for numerous years (mine has now lasted about 8 years or so). This is definitely a product I would recommend, especially to those of you who are quite gifrly, or have very feminine girlfriends, but only really to those with cash to spend.
I am married, have been for almost a year now, but that is no reason for us to stop doing spontaneous things for one another and making random loving gestures. One such gesture was when I was at home one day and received a delivery from Interflora. I received a bunch of cream roses with grey detailing and this tatty teddy bear was an additional gift that came with them and matched the Me to You wrapping on the flowers.
This teddy is absolutely lovely and is around 9 inches tall. He has a light blue slightly misshapen round shiny nose and detailing for paw pads, one of which (on the right hand side foot on display) says 'Me to You' on it which is a nice touch. I love the little touches on this bear and the little patches that he has all just add to his cuteness factor. This bear has shaggy style fur all over and is a lovely light grey colour that looks nice and doesn't start to look dirty even after being on display for a while.
This teddy sits on its bottom without toppling over at all and this adds to how lovely it looks as it can be sat basically anywhere and will not just fall over or look sloppy. I have mine with a very large collection of stuffed toys and it sits nicely somewhere in the middle with other toys all over it.
I really love the look of this toy, it is soft, cuddly and it is nice to cuddle up to from time to time. When I have had one of my nieces or nephews over to stay they seem to pick this toy quite often to cuddle up with and that must be a good indication of just how cuddly it is! One of my nephews in particular loves this toy and asks for the 'blue nose bear' every time he comes and stays.
My husband made a lovely gesture having this and the flowers delivered to me and I felt that it was a wonderful item for me to cherish forever. These are available for somewhere between £10 - £15 usually and there are numerous different sized ones that you can find though I do love the size I have.
I have a number of these Me to You bears and they are amazingly cute. Also known as Tatty Teddy's for their appearance you will recognise them when you see them. The bears have a cute grey fur which has a bit of texture to it, small black eyes and a light blue nose. I think its this contrast of the grey fur and the blue nose that really give them their distinctive look and attractiveness. The grey is a lovely powdery grey colour and the blue nose is light and inviting. Add to that a while does of cuteness and you have really popular successful bears that have been on the market for quite a long time now.
According to an article I read, Tatty Teddy bears were first created in 1987 and appeared in their current guise in 1995. The teddy bears are made by the Carte Blanche Greetings Ltd which actually explains why I really only see them on sale in Clinton Card shops, although you can buy clothing with Tatty Teddy on in places like New Look and I have just bought some baby grows for my little boy with the teddy emblem on.
You will find them in the gift aisle of the card shops and the nice thing is they come in all shapes, sizes and designs. I received one way back on my 21st birthday. The bear is holding a cake and a candle and has 21 written on it indicating the occasion you are celebrating. I think this is one of the reasons why they have become so popular as you can buy a bear for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, Valentines Day, Christmas etc so they make a very nice thoughtful gift. You can also buy the bears in lots of different forms as they now offer figurines, cards, puzzles, mugs etc but I prefer just the regular bears.
My favourite Tatty Teddy that I own is just a plain teddy with the fur and the nose, no gimmicks, clothes or special accessories, just the bear which although small is very cute. The Tatty Teddy moniker came about as they have patches of a light grey colour which appear to have been sewn onto them, along with stitching repair work on the arms and head, hence the name 'tatty'.
The bears are obviously all different prices depending on the size and design you buy but probably range from £5 to £20 and in my opinion are a nice gift for yourself or someone else.
When my boyfriend Jack found out that I was pregnant he was shocked to say the least but now he's had a couple of weeks to adapt to the fact he's going to be a Daddy for the second time round (he has a child from a previous relationship), he is over the moon and is embracing Daddyhood with open arms. Jack is not a soft type of bloke, but he's very sweet and thoughtful, and knows that I like Tatty Teddy. Over the weekend he shoved a bundle into my arms looking quite embarrised "it's for the baby" he muttered, giving me a hug and scuttling off to work. I looked down and was greeted with a plush tatty teddy which I loved straight away.
The teddy is a lovely shade of light grey with a cute little blue nose. The fur is quite messy, but it's soft and fluffly and makes the teddy really cosey to cuddle. The teddy has little glass black eyes and he has 'Me to You' written on his right foot. He has a little patch on his belly and head, which is from the Tatty Teddy story in which the bear was thrown out with the rubbish but then found by a little girl whos grandmother patched him up. I've included a picture on my Ciao review of the bear for anyone curious of what it looks like, so if you'd like to see then feel free to check my review out on their, although I am sure most of you will of heard of Tatty Teddy before.. Unfortunetly my teddy was attacked by a 5 stone slobbering labrador so has already undertaken the adventure of a ride in the washing machine, hence why the fur isn't looking as good as it could do but I am very impressed at how well it coped at been washed as I was quite worried that it might ruin the teddy. It's handy to know that it can be washed as i'm sure it'll get quite grubby when the baby gets his/her mitts on it lol.
The teddy measures around 10cm and is a good size to cuddle, although I imagine that when my baby's here it will look like a giant to him/her! When i'm cuddling it it seems to warm up quickly, if that makes sense - it sort of 'absorbs' body heat meaning it's really nice to cuddle up to in bed. It's quite a lightweight teddy as it's stuffed, however does have a bit more weight to it then a normal teddy would do as it has a beanbag in the bottom of it which allows it to sit up, which means it's ideal as a teddy to go by the baby's cot or perhaps sit on a shelf. We haven't started the baby's room yet so it's currently laid on my bed next to my dog, lol. Hopefully it will still be in one piece by time babies here. This teddy is really good quality and very affordable. After a quick search on Amazon I can see that it's available for around £12. There are other designs and sizes available too which vary in price but this one is my favourite as it's nice and simple and unisex too - I have no clue yet if I am having a boy or girl but either way I am sure the baby will love this and hopefully it will be a much-loved toy. I can't think of any disadvantages as it's such a lovely teddy, and as far as I am aware it's not a health hazard to young babies although I will not be leaving my child unsupervised with it when he/she is newborn as I worry that it could possibly fall onto the baby's face and be a suffocation hazzard, but then again I am a bit of a worry wart lol. Although I have mainly focussed on this been a gift for my baby, it is suitable for all age groups - it's makes a lovely present and the little 'Me to You' on the paw makes it feel really special. Overall reccomended.
Tatty Teddies or Me to You bears as they are often know have been around for a good few years now and can be found mainly in Clinton's Card shops or online, although it is often possible to find them in smaller independent gift shops too.
I have to admit that I find them very cute and adorable and I have a few myself that friends and my husband have brought me as gifts. The teddies themselves are grey in colour and have a soft tatty look about them hence the name. They all also have a blue nose and normally 'me to you' embroidered on the bottom of their foot.
Since tatty teddies were launched the range of not only teddies has expanded rapidly. You can now not only buy the teddies in all different sizes but the range now also includes greetings cards, figurines, wrapping paper, gift tags, jewellery, clothing and numerous other items with the tatty teddy pictures on.
The teddies themselves are available in all different outfits or special messages or ages on so make excellent gifts for all different celebrations. I have several of the smaller teddies which usually come sitting on a open box for added presentation, they can be easily removed from the box but I find they are easier to display still attached. I was also lucky enough to receive the limited addition 'gingerbread man' large boxed tatty teddy for Christmas last year from my husband, he is extremely cute but I have managed to resist the temptation of removing him from his box which is keeping him in perfect condition.
I think Tatty teddies make excellent gifts for people of all ages as the range is so versatile and there is literally a teddy for every occasion. I often buy the smallest ones for stocking fillers at Christmas or to add a little extra to a gift like a gift card to make the present seem a little more personal. They range in price from about £4.00 for the smallest bears to rather a lot more for the biggest and limited edition ones.
Hopefully Tatty Teddies will be around for a lot longer and the range will continue to expand so that I can carry on giving and receiving these cute bears as presents.
I used to buy quite a few of these as gifts for friends when I was younger as I thought they looked adorable. (They still do!) It was also an easy gift idea for someone who's rubbish at buying presents!.
As a person who bought a few of these - I can say they come in a range of different teddys with many different occasions available. Theres plain happy birthday ones, to birthday ones with ages such as 18, 21. There's also good luck, get well, congratualions, wedding, baby girl/boy, graduation and neutral ones which just contain the tatty teddy wearing a jacket or a scarf etc. Some even are wearing tops and I found these can all be removed which gives it a nice element. The tops can be plain or have a message stitched on it such as well done.
There is such a big range of these bears and they can be found in shops such as Clintons and Hallmarks, and ofcourse - online. You may think that these bears are just for girls - but that's where you would be wrong as they also include "bears for him" which have on it son, dad, grandad, brother, special son etc. These ones are quite simple in design and also look great.
They come in different sizes from around 4inch-5inch and then they go up in size to 8inch, 10inch, 12inch -to really big sizes. Pricewise the smallest one costs around £6-7 and some of the bigger ones can cost £25+. The small and medium bears were the ones i've bought a few of, the medium one costs £12 and so was great for friends gifts.
The bear itself sits on a little blue cardboard stand which has a message on the front. It's fastened to this stand but can also be easily removed from the bottom of the box. The bear is light grey in colour with a blue nose and a patch near his ear, and on his feet which is a great look. Although the bear is called tatty teddy.. it doesn't look tatty at all!.. When I first received these bears as a gift when I was younger they used to come with a book wrapped around it's neck - something I don't think is available now. The book was quite cute as it told the story of how tatty teddy came to be, with a few pictures and the story made you love the bear even more.
As a person who has 4-5 of these bears, I can't fault them.. the bear is so soft that it's lovely to touch. Even whilst having one bear next to me to review it, I can't help but stroke it's head and ears!
The right leg of the bear also has me to you stitched on it - which all bears include.
The box just states to remove all tags and packaging before giving to a child under 3 years old. It also says the bear is suitable for children 18+ months.
The bear is also easily maintained and does not fade over the years, all of mine seem to be in the same quality as when I first received them!. There is also no change to the stitching of the bear. From what I can remember, tatty teddy was one of the first of these bears within gift shops after Forever Friends.. but now there is quite a range of other teddies - but tatty teddy will always be great!. With it's cute blue nose, so soft fur and button eyes.. I give it 5 stars. Children will love them and adults will still find them adorable!.
I love Me to You bears, I think your never too old for a teddy bear and I think they look cute in the bedroom ( not when you have hundreds mind you! )
My lovely auntie got me this as a present and as soon as I seen the little thing my heart melted! I sound so cheesy I know, but honestly, his fur is so soft, his nose is so cute and his eyes are just adorable.
His fur is a very light grey, with a few bits of darker grey going through it like highlights, though they are not very obvious.
He has a hard nose area, with a harder grey colour and a light blue tiny little nose.
His eyes are so close together, yet he doesn't look freaky at all, they are black and shiny and I could just look in to them all day long.
He has some little patches on him, and on his big feet is a patch which has the Me to You logo stitched on
There is a huge range of Me to You bears, aimed at every occasion, a lot of them come with accessories from cute little scarves, too hats and bags, and a lot come with messages, from simple Happy 21st, or I love you and many many more.
Now I dont know what else to say about a teddy, except they are so lovely to cuddle, and whenever I am feeling upset I usually go to bed and grab my two teddies and just cuddle them and tuck them in, I am so sad I know..reliving my childhood I guess.
With my bear I got a tiny cute booklet, which was about the bear being lost and then found by a girl and she sewn him up and everything, was such a nice little feature to add.
I find the Me to You bears make a lovely present, and mine certainly made me smile and still does when I look at it.
My bear is made so nicely, its fur is very low maintenance I have took note that he does not get all knotted up from when I have him in my bed and when my little cousin played with him, its still silky soft, I can imagine though if you spilt juice on it and stuff it would go sticky but if you are just holding it, sleeping ith it, its fine.
For as long as I have had mine he has remained perfect and nothing has changed about him. I also find he cleans very easily ( I have gotten make up over him before and a simple face wipe removed it! )
My bear is a medium size, around 13/14 inches tall, just the right size to get into bed with you!
I am not sure how much she payed for mine and wouldn't put a price on to it, I say this because when I look around online I can see that the prices vary a lot from very low to very high.
I have heard the toy is suitable for ages +3 just cos I seen other people were asking on different reviews so thought I would add it in.
Since quite a young age I have been a fan of Teddy Bears and have built up quite a collection of various ornaments as well as soft toy bears including various Steiff Bears and also Me To Your Bears, also known as Tatty Teddy. The Tatty Teddy I have was one I received for my 18th birthday and spent years sitting on my shelf along side my Steiff Bears. Me To You Bears come in many forms now a days as well as the different soft toys you can buy Tatty Teddy also appears on various types of merchandise including mugs, key rings, children's clothing and even greetings cards. But for this review I will be focusing on my 18th birthday Tatty Teddy
The Tatty Teddy Story
Up until I received my Tatty Teddy for my birthday I was not aware that there was an actual story behind this cute little grey bear. Attached to my bear is a small plastic wallet with a tiny book inside it which contains the Tatty Teddy story, the book is made from very thin card and has the picture of a Tatty Teddy's face on the front of if and the word The Me To You Story written at the top of the cover. The story inside is very short but is illustrated with a couple of pictures, it tells the story of how a brown bear got thrown out with the rubbish in a skip and was left there in the cold for weeks, it talks of how sad the bear was as no one loved him and he had no friends. The story also goes on to say how the little bear got so cold that his fur turned grey and his nose turned blue (features of the Tatty Teddy we all know today) The story finished with a little girl finding the bear and falling in love with him, she took the bear to her grandmothers who patched the bear up, patches were placed on his body to stop the stuffing coming out (another feature of Tatty Teddy today) and also some of his stitching could be seen where his fur was worn. This short story is rather sad but it does have a happy ending and also explains how the Me To You Bear got some of his features that we still see on him today.
My Tatty Teddy
My Tatty Teddy has all the regular characteristics of the Me To You Bear, he has the lovely soft grey fur which has a clipped appearance to it, the area around his nose and mouth is a slightly lighter grey colour and the fur it cut much shorter in this area, as the story says his nose is light blue in colour and feels as though it is made from plastic but covered in a felt like material, he has 2 small plastic black eyes situated just above the light grey area of fur. They story describes Tatty Teddy as having visible stitches showing where his fur has worn, again this is the case with my Tatty Teddy and he has visible dark grey stitches on his head, along both arms and going down his tummy. The other traditional characteristic of the Me To You Bear are his patches, said to have been sewn on my the little girls grandmother, my Tatty Teddy has 3 patches sewn on him one on his head, one on his tummy and a third one on his bottom near his tail these are made from a grey felt material and are held in place with dark grey stitches around the edges. Further patches have been sewn on all 4 of his paws, again made from the same material held in place with darker grey stitches, on one of the felt patches on his back paw are the words "Me To You written in black writing.
My Me To You Bear is in a sitting down position his body is actually a bean bag with his head, arms and legs being filled with regular stuffing, he is holding with both paws a large (in comparison) silver key with the number 18 cut out of the end, the key itself is made from silver covered plastic and measures approximately 3.5inches long. Tatty Teddy himself is of a decent size without being too big to have sat out on a shelf, he measure about 5.5inches high from tail to ear and about 3.5inches across (that's from paw to paw) With my Tatty Teddy being designed for an 18th birthday he came sat on a Me To You cardboard stand with Happy Birthday written on it, although this was disposed of some years ago now. With his body being a bean bag it does mean that he stays in place without falling over.
My Tatty Teddy was an 18th birthday present brought for me several years ago, however I have looked him up online and he is still available and being sold on Amazon for £9.78. Personally I feel this is a fair price and some of the Tatty Teddy items are sold for a lot more, obviously depending on the size and style of the item. Me To You Bears are widely available and can be purchased in a variety of gift shops as well as online, Me To You Bears are often sold in places like Clinton Cards.
I would definitely recommend Tatty Teddy, he is extremely cute and has a lovely story behind him, he would make an ideal present for people of all ages and there is one suitable for everybody. The 18 Tatty Teddy which I have is an ideal present for anyone's 18th birthday its something they can keep as a reminder of the day. Me To You Bears are of an extremely high quality and are very well made, although my bear has only ever sat on the shelf in my room I have cleaned it from time to time to remove any dust and he is still looking as good as new and in excellent condition, although some can be a bit on the expensive side I would say they are worth the money and I would definitely recommend him.
Over the years I have received a few Me to You Tatty Teddies as presents from various friends and family members. However, what prompted me to write this review was receiving a Valentine's Tatty Teddy from my girlfriend over the weekend.
I'd say the bear is of a large size, although it's not one of those massive ones you see selling for £100 if not more, this one cost £24.99 (she left the price on!). I think this is a good price as it is a good sized bear big enugh for cuddling but not too big to take to bed, and the detailing is lovely, making it a very high quality product.
The bear has the classic grey fur and blue nose, with little patches sewn on giving the 'tatty' effect, she's got her arms wide open (the bear's now named Jessica after my girlfriend) with a chain of five hearts each one spelling a word of "I love you this much". The main grey fur of the bear is incredibly fluffy and soft, making it perfect to snuggle into, and the patches, in a similar shade of grey are a sort of suede which again is very soft, although these patched are sewn on with a matching grey sewing machine thread there is a more apparant dark grey thick stitch giving it a hand- made feel. These same patches are also on the feet, the left of which is embellished with a dark grey stitch saying "Me to You". The nose and eyes of the bear are both plastic, and this is reflected in the product being rcommended for children over the age of 3 years. The hearts are lovely they are alternating in the fabrics used, some black some patterned red and the lettering is done with silver thread which gives the teddy a bit of glitz. They are made of stiffened fabric so they don't bend out of shape, although I don't think this helps with cuddliness.
There's also a nice little booklet that comes with the teddy attached to his ear, containing the Me to You hollogram and a note saying that "Every Tatty Teddy is handmade with love and care" which is a nice little touch. It also has space to write who it's too and who off. As I keep this teddy on my bed I have removed the tags, and put them away safe, but if it's sitting on a shelf then there's no need for this.
Overall, I think this is a lovely teddy and would definately recommend it, although Valentine's is over for another year, they are often available in almost the same designs every year. It's very cuddly and soft, although the hardened hearts do sometimes get in the way a bit. The bear is not suitable for children under three years, although as this is a Valentine's bear it isn't likely to be bought for children anyway.
Everyone recognises the tatty teddy when they see it. It is such a cute, gorgeous bear that most people can't help loving. He is really well known, easily recognised and popular. He makes the perfect present, I would say more for females than for males.
The bear comes in many different forms and sizes. I am reviewing a medium sized classic teddy, but you can also get small ones, big ones, and even ceramic ones that are meant for use as ornaments. You can also buy the bear's picture cards, magnets, and you can even buy a little bear in key ring form. Awwww.
The bear is light grey in colour with a light blue nose. He also had a small patch on his forehead, just above his right eye. His eyes are two very tiny black beads. They are just above his nose which seems to make his face look squashed up and smaller, and therefore, really cute! You can tell the genuine bears apart from the fake ones because the genuine ones say 'Me to You' on them; this is stitched onto their left paw.
The bears are so soft and cuddly and you can just hug them for ages. He is just like a classic teddy, really, except there is something about how he sits with his big belly and his slouched shoulders that just makes him look like such a cutie!
I was given my bear as a present, but I have seen them around in card shops. I must admit, they are rather expensive. The price can vary depending on the particular store that you are buying the bear from, but don't expect a bargain. The bears are also sold in most good supermarkets, and in various places online. But the bear really will put a smile on someone's face so I suppose he is worth it. I was thrilled, for example, when I got mine.
So, if you're stuck for ideas for Christmas presents, I've just given you one! I would definitely recommend this cute little bear.
The "Tatty Teddy" is the bear with a blue nose and grey patches. For the huge range of plush teddies the bottoms of their feet are also grey patches, one of which has "Me to You" embroidered onto it. They also do other products such as photo frames, key rings, phone charms, mugs, porcelain statues and many more.
These bears make brilliant gifts (particularly for girls) and the range cover just about every occasion. They cover the obvious such as birthdays, Christmas and Valentine's Day. They also do products for occasions such as mother's day, Weddings, anniversaries, driving tests, general congratulations, and there is a lot of bears the wear t-shirts with love messages printed or embroidered onto them.
The bears can be found mainly in Clinton Cards, but are also on sale in a few other shops. And of course there is the website provided by Carte Blanche.
The plush bears range in size and price. The smallest are around 3 inches in height. The next is about 6 inches. Then there's one at 9 inches. Up to the next at 12 inches. Then 16 inches, and finally 20 inches.
The prices go according to size, ranging from about £4.00 for the smallest up to around £50.00 for the bigger bears. Occasionally they do massive bears which stand at about 2 feet high and cost considerably more.
Mostly the bears are made from the same material which a very soft, fluffy, furry material in a pale shade of grey. The older ranges of bears were made from a sort of flannel-like material which I can honestly say I prefer, but of course that's just my opinion.
Me To You also do limited edition plush bears which are usually numbered. They will have something distinctly different about them from the more ordinary bears. For example, my limited edition Tatty Teddy which I named "Bair", (original, I know) has blue patches instead of grey, and he has a little jewel in his nose as opposed to the usual white spot. And he comes from a line of 1500 making him a fairly rare bear.
These bears are definitely worth keeping hold of as their prices absolutely soar.
My overall opinion of the Me to You or "Tatty Teddy" bears is that they are perfect for giving as gifts. So for all you men who are questioning what to buy for your anniversary or your girlfriend's birthday, etc. here's your answer!
Me to You, Tatty Teddy, Blue nose bear, Whatever you want to call them these grey little teddy bears come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Large, small, really small even in ornament form. They are found in card shops such as Clintons and Smart Ideas and I think I even seen them in Asda though I may be mistaken and of course they can be purchased online. They are made by Carte Blanche and they have there own website devoted to these loveable bears: http://carteblanchegreetings.com/metoyou/ here you can learn the story behind the bear. The story is also attached to the bigger bears ears in a little plastic sleeve. Also you can find out all the Me to You bear products available and Limited bears coming soon.
Personally I call them Me to You Bears and I think they are adorable. This bear was given to me as a gift for my birhday a couple of years ago looking online I think it woulds have cost around £9.99. The price depends on the size of bear you have. You can get them for as little as £4.99.
To look at mine is a grey teddy bear, with a little blue nose and patches sewn on his bum, his belly, his head and his feet with Me to You stitched onto his patch on his left foot. I have one like the one in the picture which is lovely I also have others with little jumpers on with various slogans on there are different ones for different occasions always a reason to buy a Me to You bear. The Me to You bear sits up right on his bottom with his legs facing outwards.
My Me to You Bear feels soft to hold his tatty fur is still soft and his fur around his nose is especially soft. I would say these bears are more for adults than children as they are more of a collecting teddy I think as they are not floppy like children's play teddys. Though I do think they would be hard wearing.
5 stars for these lovely little grey teddys
I have been collecting Me to you bear's since my 13th birthday, and im now 24. They are a great present for any occassion, as there is such a wide range of items available, and they are so easy to get hold of from a majority of stores.
Clinton's was the first place to sell the tatty teddy range, however now it has branched out and you are able to purchase the bears in many places including Tesco, ebay and Additions catalogue. Ebay is great for purchasing the bears as there is such a large variety on there and you are always to get something that you like.
The range of bears varies from the tatty teddy itself, to its blue nose friends which come in a range of shapes and sizes. Special bears can be purchased for special birthdays and occassions, such as birthdays, births, weddings, and graduations. The bears range from a mini bear which costs around 3.50GBP to massive huge bears which are around 150GBP.
Different styles of bears are bought out to celebrate Valentine's, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Easter and Christmas. There are also a range of limited edition bears which are available, a little more pricey but perfect for all collector.
The style of the tatty teddy has recently changed and they are now alot more fluffy than before, and the price has increased slightly. It's now around 10GBP for a smaller sized bear in a presentation box, which is still great value.
Other range of Me to you products include clothing, stationary, jewellery and watches, and car accessories.
You really cant go wrong with a Me to you gift, there are so many choices to chose from and even if you are not a collector it is a great present for all ages and genders.
Tatty Teddy is a much loved Teddy Bear with a little blue nose and patch. Tatty Teddy is gorgeously soft with beans in his bottom so that he can sit and pose. He's the perfect Bear for all Me to You Teddy collectors. Finished in super-soft plush.
