Past Times also sell a small Sweep toy dog as well as a companion for Sooty. Funnily enough he is not reduced yet.
The Sooty Show website sell much more Sooty merchandise.
I remember Sooty and Sweep from my own childhood and received this little item as a quirky Christmas gift. Past Times are very good at resurrecting old favourites from our childhoods and last year they were also selling Roland Rat and Bagpuss.
Not only did I have Sooty books as a child but I also bought hand puppets for my own sons, so along with Rupert Bear this is a very long established childhood favourite.
This little bear is very cute. At 6.5 inches tall he is slightly smaller than the famous Ty Beanies but is just as nice. The top half of his body is conventionally stuffed while he has 'beans' in his bottom, legs and feet. His red dungarees do not come off but the straps can be undone as they fasten with velcro. He is very cute and hand sized for little children but the website states an age limit of three years probably due to Sooty containing those 'beads' that could be swallowed if the child made a hole in him. They state he is machine washable and I have, over the years, washed most of our cuddly toys in the machine with no problems.
I think my little Sooty is very sweet and I have actually bought some more now from the Past Times website as they are currently selling them for half price. They will make nice little gifts for some nieces at Christmas and I will try and get a DVD or book of Sooty stories to go along with them.
