Pillow Pets is a range of pillows shaped as animals. There are a number of different animals available including a panda, an elephant and a bumblebee but for the purpose of this review, I will be discussing the monkey!
Pillow Pet can be used as a pillow or as a soft toy. The main part of the monkey is 95% polyester with the outside being made of soft, chenille fabric. Pillow Pet is suitable from age three and measures 44x30.2x19.8cm. The monkey can be hand washed or put on a wool cycle in your washing machine. It shouldn't be tumble dried or ironed.

My son received this Pillow Pet as a birthday gift back in May. His big cousin owned a Pillow Pet and thought it would make a lovely and different gift for Boo. It is fair to say that he loves it! Whilst a monkey isn't his favourite animal, he was very happy with his gift and it has been used nearly every single night at bedtime and also for sleepovers at his grandparents home.
The monkey is very cute in design and does resemble a cartoon-like monkey. It is brown and beige in colour and looks good. Monkey is quite big when folded up in to a soft toy and also when folded out in to a pillow. He is plump and cuddly which makes him the ideal candidate for a soft toy. The only hard parts are his well secured eyes. The quality of this Pillow Pet is excellent - neat stitching, no noticeable flaws and a high quality finish.
My son can fold monkey up himself and transport him out of the house with ease. He isn't overly heavy and is easy to carry underneath an arm or popped in a bag. There is a secure Velcro tab on the underside of monkey which has stood up to usage well. There is a handy little flap of fabric over the Velcro strap which allows it to be concealed when the pillow is not folded up. I find this to be a useful addition as it means my son won't experience any roughness from the Velcro tab whilst sleeping. When folded up, monkey looks like a cute teddy sitting on my sons bed.
My son is five years old and mainly uses this as a pillow. His usual Thomas the Tank cushion has been thrown to the side in favour of the monkey pillow and I must say, I would do this too! The chenille fabric used as the monkeys fur is super soft and well attached to the body of the monkey. It is thick and reminds me of a furry rug. My son has the choice of an extra furry side or a smoother, less furry size of the pillow. The pillow offers excellent support for my sons head and sort of moulds to the shape of his head. He doesn't tend to fidget around in bed since receiving this pillow and finds it very comfortable to lie on.
It is an excellent width and shape for a young child or even a school child. I have used it myself and find that the pillow is a dream to relax my head on. The chenille fabric gives it a high quality, comforting feel which makes it much more appealing than a standard pillow in my opinion. It is cuddly and visually appealing to my son especially with its smiley face and stumpy tale. My son really likes it.
My son isn't a dirty child but I have washed this pillow as he does get a bit 'sweaty' through the night in the Summer. The dark colour of this pillow means that any dirt is less likely to be noticeable anyway but to keep it fresh and clean, it should be washed occasionally. I have washed it once on a wool wash and let it dry naturally. Due to how plump monkey is, it does take a while to dry. Our monkey hasn't become misshaped or anything and still looks as good as new. I must admit though, I did feel a little guilty looking in to the washing machine and seeing a smiley face looking back at me!
Anyway, both Boo and I can highly recommend this Pillow Pet. It may not be the most colourful one available but my son loves it and that is good enough for me. It is reasonably priced and would make an ideal gift.
