“ Manufacturer: RNLI „
As you all must know by now I am a member of the Llandudno Lifeboat Guild and, as such, spend my Sundays during the summer on the promenade selling souvenirs.
We sell all sorts of things from Lifeboat tea bags to pens and fishing nets to Christmas Cards - in June? Yes, in June! We also have a range of wonderful teddy bears.
We have really small bears for £2.95 ranging up to our Helmsman, Coxswain and Mechanic bears. In this review I will tell you all about Kevin the Coxswain bear.
Kevin the Coxswain bear is a cuddly seven inches tall, that's 19 cm for those of you who are younger than I am and think in metric! He costs £12.95 and is the most expensive of our bears but he is gorgeous!
He has a lovely face and he really looks the part dressed in his yellow oilskins - trousers and jacket with pockets, sea boots, white tee shirt and cap. His tee shirt and cap both have the RNLI flag on them. He has moveable limbs so that he can sit down and his fur is SO soft!
Both the bear and his clothes are very well made and I think that he represents good value for money.
When we put the stock out on the stall I always tell the bears to sit up straight and look cute so that people will buy them! I often have a laugh with our customers when they catch me talking to the bears!
We do sell quite a few of these bears even though they are the most expensive and I think it because they are so well made and feel so lovely and soft to the touch. The children see them sitting there and soon ask mom and dad if they can have one! We also have adults who collect our bears and so they come each year to see which ones have been added to the range.
When my mom was alive she would come to the stall and would pick up the teddies one by one with the intention of buying them but I had to keep reminding her that she had already got them!
Kevin the Coxswain can be purchased online from HQ in Poole - just visit http://www.rnlishop.org.uk/gifts/ and search for Kevin the Coxswain or you could buy him from one of the many RNLI gift shops around the country.
Of course the other advantage of Kevin the Coxswain is that anyone buying him is helping the work of the RNLI and is indirectly helping to save a life. So you can treat yourself or someone else to a lovely gift and feel good about helping others at the same time!
In conclusion I would say that, even though this is one of our most expensive bears, he is well worth the money and would be ideal for a child to play with and cuddle or for an adult to collect.
