I wish I could have got a picture for this toy just to show how ugly the Giant is, but in a loveable way. I was browsing my favourite web page, when I was looking at The Puppet Company Finger Puppets. This day they were selling some of them a lot cheaper than usual and the one that caught my eye was "The Giant"
Usually £4.99 it was being sold for £1.80 including delivery, which is really good for one of these puppets. So I ordered one thinking that if it is was no good not a lot had been wasted. Well it turned up within a few days and I couldn't wait to open the package.
Well it was a bit of a shocker as he was bigger than I was expecting measuring 26cm in height, he came with a blue top and black trousers that are all attached together, so they cannot be removed. Round his middle he has a brown belt with a large sack pouch attached, again all sewn in so it cannot be removed, which makes this a good toy for safety reasons as nothing can get put in the mouth by the child. Completed with high brown boots on.
He has a large face with a huge grin exposing two teeth one on the top and one on the bottom, his eyes are made from brown/black shinyplastic beads, which again are really attached firmly. The rest of his features have been drawn on with him having a stubbly beard. his nose and ears stick out for children to grab and he has the biggest mob of soft hair. He is well stuffed and squiggy to squeeze.
His arms are outstretched, when you turn him over you will see several pockets, one on the middle of his back ( this makes his chest move), one on the back of either arm( so you can do clap handies, well thats what I do!!) and two on the tops of his legs ( this gives him a walking/kicking movement) when you put your fingers in the appropriate pockets.
Well when I showed my family the giant their first reaction was ....well I can't use their exact works on this review, but it went in a more polite way something like I would "Scare the ....out of him" or "What the hell this that!!
I was then a bit worried about showing it to my grandson the next time I saw him, but he really loved it and it is one of his favourite toys that he gets out of his toy box when I look after him every week. I purchased this back in May so it has proven to be a good buy. We have great fun as I hide behind a wall and let the giant jump out at him clapping his hands, my grandson falls about laughing.
I have to say that for a toy that has been used quite a bit it still looks as good as when I purchased him. I know they say that it is for age 3 and over but my grandson has loved this since he was 11 months old. It is a very safe toy as far as I can see.
So I have grown to love this toy as well, maybe not the prettiest in the world, but I wouldn't get rid of him for anything!
