      Very helpful

      A cute little character bear!

Ty Beanie Babies took the soft/ plush collectable toy world by storm, when first released for sale in 1993. One of the follow on plush toys is China the adorable Panda Bear Beanie. He is very sweet and needs a loving home to cheer him up!

We added China the Panda Bear, to our 'hug' of Beanies as we thought he was very cute indeed. China was £5.99 at the time but now sells for a little more, closer to £10 if in mint condition with tags intact. We thought £5.99 a very fair price for him at the time, as many of the bears in the range were sold off for much more and he was a very desirable addition to our collection.

China is a sweet black and white shaded plush panda bear. His fur is very soft and has a nice feel about him. He has a sad little face and looks a little glum, so some serious TLC would be good for him!

China has black beady eyes set into the black patches on his face and a matching black nose. His cute but small black ears are set to the sides of his head giving him an alert look. China can either stand or sit, he looks sweet either way.

China is only surface washable! So if he gets in to trouble, do be careful as a complete wash is not recommended for him.

Many of the Beanie Bears by Ty, such as our own China Bear, will never have been handled much, as they were bought as part of Beanie collections. Drastic cleaning would reduce the value of China in the eyes of any beanie collector.

If you are buying China just as a childs toy to be loved and hugged then there is no need to be too precious about keeping him in perfect condition. As you can see by the prices he sells for that he is not amongst the most valuable bears made by Ty, USA.

China has a little heart shaped red and white Ty tag in his ear. It tells you his name and date of birth and includes a small poem for China. China has his very own birthday, in September 2000.

He was retired from sale in April 2001. In spite of this you can still buy China online at various retailers like Amazon. You will also find China for sale on specialist Beanie collector sites and also for sale on Ebay UK or USA. He sells for anything upwards from £8.99 to £9.99, so costs only a little more than his original retail price and won't break the bank if you need him to complete your collection.

China's own special poem reads as follows:

In the mountains you'll find me
      Sitting near a bamboo tree
You'll laugh at such a funny sight
I only dress in black and white!

Perhaps not the best of beanie poems, but thoughtful and cute never the less.
All Ty Beanie Babies have their own heart shaped ear tags, showing these details, but if you want to you can also buy China his very own beanie passport, so that he can travel with you when you go on holiday.

Whilst Beanie Bears like China are just childrens toys, he and many of the other beanies are collected widely by adults and children. A mint condition China Bear, sold to a collector, must be 100% perfect, with the Ty heart shaped ear tag in tip top condition.

Anything less would not be worth getting. If you are just buying China for a child to love and play with, then removal of the tag would be safest. A collector would not do so and would want to keep him 100% original.

China is a glum little bear that needs a loving home to cheer him up. We bought him because he differs slightly from the traditional shaped teddy bear beanies so he was a more interesting addition. I think he offers something a bit different with his lovely black and white fur. So I am awarding him 5 stars as I think he is a delightful little character.
