Adorable little bear, that any girl would love to own

As a Beanie fan, as soon as I saw Eggs the Easter Bear I just fell in love with her. She is so very sweet, with her cute almost Barbie pink soft velveteen plush fur. Who would fail to fall for a bear as cute as she is. She was £5.99 at the time we bought her. Eggs was 'new' in toy shops and stores during easter 2000 onwards.

She is the same sort of shape as the other Ty bears, except the Koala, Panda and Grizzly types, which are more in keeping with the shape of a real bear. Eggs is made as a traditional style teddy bear shape. She has longer arms and round paws, with feet that are shaped in an almost human kind of way.

Eggs can be posed to look as if she is sitting down and she has a lovely black round nose, with matching teeny black eyes. Her bow compliments her fur colour and is a pretty purple organza style fabric. Eggs being an easter Ty Beanie has a sweet little easter egg logo embroidered on to one side of her chest.

The easter egg logo is mostly soft green, with a yellow zig zag, red lines and a hint of blue at the bottom. I guess they picked those shades to make the egg logo stand out a little more against her pink fur. I would have liked it more if they had been in more complimentary shades of perhaps, deeper pink, mauve or purple and perhaps turquoise. Ty obviously thought other wise and hey, who am I to disagree.

Eggs the Easter Bear is one of the range of Ty Beanie Babies that took the word by storm with the introduction of just 9 cute beanie baby animals. Soon after, Ty Beanie Babies became a must have collectable and both adults and children alike grew to love these cute little plush toys.

Eggs was also the first of the easter themed beanies and she was born on the 23rd April, 2000, making her 10 years old. She was first introduced on 31st December 2000, although we didn't see her in shops here till March/ April as I recall.

Eggs the bear retired on the 23rd March 2001, almost one year later than when we first spotted her on sale. However she was soon snapped up and prices for her online and in special Beanie shops started to increase.

Every Ty Beanie Baby has their very own heart shaped red and white Ty ear tag. This is the trade mark of the Ty Beanie brand.

In the same way that Steiff Bears have ear buttons and would be de valued without them, Ty Beanie Bears must hang on to their tag if bought as a collectable item.

Each tag contains a special poem. All the poems are a little different and some are much better than others. Eggs own poem reads as follows:

Decorating eggs is fun to do
Coloring them with pink and blue
Hiding them is lots of fun
Make sure you find every one!

Eggs can still be found for sale online and in specialist shops. She is not one of the most sought after bears, so her value has remained similar to that of 10 years ago. For Eggs to be worth anything, she must be in 100% tip top mint condition, with her Ty tag attached.

I do feel that she will also make a nice gift for a child and as she is not too pricey to buy. If buying her for that purpose, then condition will not be an issue. If Eggs gets a little worn or dirty along the way it won't matter too much. She can be surfaced washed only and her tag removed if given to a younger child to play with.

Eggs has such a lovable cute look that I feel she is worthy of a 5 star rating.
