I'm a big lover of dark things and a small lover of cute things so how could I resist buying a plush which included them both? well I couldn't so I made no hesitation when buying this Halloween HK bat. I've never hidden the fact that I'm a lover and collector of Hello kitty plushies and item's despite being hounded by my friends about it. About a year ago I got fed up and sold a lot of my plush collection which I now regret so I'm trying to build it back up again and I thought this was a beautiful plush to start my collection with again. I bought my bat from off Ebay which is a similar price to websites selling this anyway, I bought it from there instead because the postage was a little cheaper and I like to save as much money as I can. This was still £15.95 this is roughly the price you should expect when buying a small hello kitty plush teddy anyway and the price can also depend on the design and not the size. This Plush out of all of them instantly caught my eye, bats are one of my most favorite animals and creatures whether they're in real life or in pictures/films etc. So having a plush that combines two of my most favorite things is the best thing in the world for me. The hello kitty Halloween bat is 15cm in height so you can imagine this is a small teddy with a big price. This particular plush has been made by ty beanies and the tags can be found on her side underneath her left wing. It states to remove these before giving them to a child, but being a collector I like to keep all the original tagging and what not on them. It also states that this is for ages 3+ so it's a good job i'm 20 although I can't see any harm in this being placed in a cot or a room of a child younger than 3 because this has no small parts and no attachments. The Halloween bat is made from a silky soft fleece like material and there is only two colours on this and that is black and orange, the kitty itself is black along with the wings and her strapped play suit, bow, nose and whiskers are all orange. Her play suit isn't separate like on some plushies her outfit is separate, this looks like the fleece has just been dyed a different colour which is fine by me because it's really neat and well done. The head is considerably larger than the body and her feet are set in a sitting position so you can sit this down anywhere and not have to worry about her falling over. Her expression is the same and the full plush is the same as every other one except for her outfit and the fact she has wings. The wings themselves have no wiring or anything to keep them staying straight out right, the do stick out but are a little floppy but I'm fine with this because she sits in front of my bigger hello kitty plush teddies on a shelf. This plush is very durable I've only had it a few months now but it's extremely well sewn together I haven't had any rips or any damages like I have had with some of my other teddies. The bow is also still infact because I've found if moved around a lot of handled a lot the bow is usually the first to come off but this one has stayed put, it does state on the tags that this is surface washable, whether this means run over with a damp cloth or machine washable I don't know but I've never had to do either. Overall this is a beautiful eye catching plush and one I pride myself on owning in my collection, she sits at the front of a shelf with all the bigger hello kitties so she stands out from the crowd, and it is a large crowd of them, despite my friends thinking my collection is silly i've had many compliments on this Halloween bat especially. This is perfectly fine for children to have or play with they may even giggle because it has wings. The price is very, pricey and some people I feel even collectors would stick their nose up at the price, this is something you could probably win out of a toy grabbing machine and I feel the price should of been a little lower but I don't have anything against it which is why I bought it and still love it to this day.
I am a huge fan of Hello Kitty and whilst once upon a time I would probably have purchased each and every one of the soft toys that are available I have managed to contain my enthusiasm by purchasing only one or two. When my beautiful 14 year old half Persian cat died during the spring of last year I was absolutely devastated and when browsing through the Hello Kitty soft toys on Amazon I discovered the Halloween Bat, which I simply had to own, particularly as my cat had been black. Consequently, my purchase was made in memory of little Maizie, my beloved four legged friend and this review discusses this cute little soft toy. Hello Kitty Halloween Bat is a Ty toy and when she arrived at my home there was a label attached to her arm carrying the adorable message "You can never have too many friends", which made me smile as it is so very true. The toy is suitable for age 3 upwards, so it suits me well at the age of 44 years! Whilst collectors of Ty may opt to leave the label on the toy I decided to remove it, as it was hurting her arm! I am going to admit to my mad side here, as Hello Kitty was promptly renamed when she arrived at our household eighteen months ago and is now affectionately known as "BP", which stands for Bat Puss. After making the bed in the mornings BP sits on top of a comfy cushion with her friend Marley, the orang-utan. Hello Kitty is made from a silky soft velour style fabric, which can be described as a fleece as opposed to fur. Her little feet are positioned in the sitting position and she measures 15 cm in height. Whilst some soft toys are joined and can be repositioned for the toy to stand, Hello Kitty cannot be manoeuvred and is permanently in the sitting position. As this toy was designed specifically for Halloween she wears an eye-catching orange coloured outfit, which looks very similar to a baby grow although it displays straps as opposed to being all in one. This cannot be removed and is firmly attached to the toy. The entire design of Halloween Bat is identical to that of all the other Hello Kittys with the exception of her wings, which are absolutely adorable and make this soft toy a little different. These are firmly attached to her back and will not detach themselves. If you are familiar with Hello Kitty you will be aware of her short stubby arms and again these are firmly attached and cannot be removed. The final touches to Halloween Bat are her facial features with her sturdy plastic black eyes and petite orange nose. I am familiar with making soft toys having enjoyed the craft for many years in my older days and on inspection I can see that the eyes are safety where they are attached via a length of plastic and fixed on the inside of the soft toy with a circular section of plastic or metal. These types of eyes are perfectly safe and cannot be removed without physically opening the toy and levering the rear section with a scissors or pliers. Hello Kitty's whiskers have been applied with bright orange thread and are sewn into the fabric, so there are no rough edges and to complete her cute little look she wears her familiar bow on her head, which again, is firmly fixed. The toy has been extremely well sewn and whilst mine sits on the bed she has been in the washing machine a few times followed by the tumble dryer and has reappeared looking as good as new. She is extremely soft to the touch and is the perfect size for little hands and fingers. She has been stuffed well and despite her undergoing the trauma of my washing machine and tumble dryer the stuffing has stayed where it is supposed to rather than bunching up. Whilst I am 44 years old I absolutely adore this cute little soft toy, which would appeal to both Hello Kitty fans and/or cat lovers. She is the only black Hello Kitty that I could find on the internet and for me, this was the real selling point, as she reminds me of my little Maizie. As previously stated, I purchased mine approximately eighteen months ago from Amazon and as far as I can recall I paid around £5, but at the time of writing this toy is listed on Amazon for £15.95 inclusive of postage and packing, which I think is crazy for such a small item. I have carried out an internet search and have come up with the same price for ebay, so I would shop around and perhaps look for a high street stockist as I feel this toy is worth around £5. As this soft toy is so adorable and is perfect for any ages she receives 5 stars from me together with a full recommendation. I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading - miaow! This review has previously appeared on Ciao under the same user name.
