Flight Control (iPhone Application)
by LordCreed This was one of the first apps I ever brought off I-tunes, and for £0.59 it is a bargain. Its one of the best time killers I've found and provides a good source of entertainment for hours on end. - Design - This app has a sleek design and is also well made. The graphics on it, whilst not being stunning, provide a clear ... style that makes the game look nice. It has a minimalistic feel to it, whilst not missing detail that you feel must be there. The menus on it are clearly labelled, and you can easily find what to do. - The Game - Unlike may other traffic control type games, this one always boots up when you want it too, and has a short load up time, which is very good on my rather slow I-phone 3G. The game is then easy to get into, you can pretty much play it without having to read the instructions making it extremely easy to use. The general aim of the game is to land the planes and helicopters as fast as you can, and avoiding the screen getting cluttered with loads of planes. This is much harder than it seems, as they have a habit of crashing should you not pay attention for even a second. - Overview - I would say this game is well worth buying, it's one of the best time killers, and should you ever get bored, start playing with other people using bluetooth or wifi, and you will be playing a entirely different aspect of the game. Flight Control (iPhone Application)
by tenkilos My first exposure to Flight Control came courtesy of my sister's iPad at Christmas which started as sheer amusement at a simple game which involves landing airplanes onto different runways according to their type without them crashing into each other. In the space of days... well... who am I kidding? In the space of hours, I was addicted ... to the point of covertly stealing the iPad at every opportune moment in order to play Flight Control despite not being capable of getting even remotely close to the scores my sister had recorded. Having recently bought an iPhone, I have downloaded the game onto that for the meagre sum of 59p. The hours of shameless entertainment that the 59 pence gives you surely make this one of the most worthwhile purchases you can make for under a pound! I was hugely surprised to discover that despite the screen being susbstantially smaller on the iPhone and it being apparently more difficult to play the game, with experience I got considerably better and my scores on the iPhone are substantially better than anything I could achieve on the iPad originally. The game is incredibly simple in its design where a number of different plane types which travel at different speeds enter the screen at various points and your job is to guide them to landing strips of an appropriate colour without them crashing into each other. There are a number of different maps with varying difficulty levels and when playing there are a number of achievements that you can unlock as well as a leaderboard showing you exactly how bad you are in comparison with the hundreds of thousands of people with better flight path drawing skills than you. The one drawback is the relatively little flexibility in the game modes as once you've played the game for long enough, you do eventually begin taking breaks. Having said that, I would very highly recommend everyone to get the app for their iPhone or iPad. It was first on my list when I got mine! Read the complete review |

Championship Manager 2010 (iPhone Application)
by Rastis I recently downloaded Championship Manager 2010 for my Iphone having been a huge fan of the PC versions through my teens and into my twenties. Any serious Champy fan will know that some versions were downright brilliant and others way too complicated. As a mobile app, the makers were forced to strip out a lot of the ... complicated options, and get back to the core of what was Championship Manager 2! That's right, we now have an updated version, with all the latest players and rules, of the old 90's classic. Cutting down means we get back to the old simple training options, the old simple match watching versions, and slimline transfer system. Unfortunately, as this version only contains English Leagues I lost my beloved Rangers, and am forced to play with a "lesser" team! However, if you can get over the lack of teams you will no doubt enjoy playing what was the greatest version of CM ever, all rolled into your iphone. I'm now wasting hours at work playing this, and have just ordered the think longer lasting iphone battery pack as running this app for so long (as you inevitably will) will definitely leave you battery low. You won't get more enjoyment, per hour for three quid! Read the complete review |
