===Introduction===

Bejewelled 2 for the iPhone was one of the first game apps I bought and downloaded, I play the 'Blitz' version of the game on Facebook and used to extensively play the full PC version of the game on my home computer. This version is an official PopCap release and has 4 versions of the game in this download and remains one of the most played games I have on my iPhone.

===GamePlay===

The object of the game in Bejewelled is to gain as many points as you can by clearing a board of brightly coloured different shaped gems, each time a group of matching gems is cleared they are replaced with another random selection and by swapping them around so that they touch you are able to build up a high score. Depending on the variation of the game you choose to play will determine either the length of time you have to maximise your score or you can play an 'endless' version of the game where there isn't a countdown timer. There are bonuses for clearing multiple gems at the same time and hidden features activate when 4 or more gems are cleared in a single go and if you judge a move correctly you can achieve multiple matches and very high scores. Multiplier gems appear once you begin to build you your speed and these can make all the difference to the score you achieve, 'special' bonuses can eliminate all the gems in both the horizontal and verticle lines of the game board and a detonator gem can clear the board of all of one particular gem.

The game can be frantic at times, it's incredibly addictive and remains the only game on my phone that I play every day. The Blitz option of the game can by synchronised to your own Facebook account if you want to share you scores with your Facebook friends and compete against them or it can be played offline if you want to compete against yourself.

===Graphics and How the Game works on the iPhone===

The iPhone's touch screen really comes into its own with Bejewelled as is one of those games that benefits from the fast and responsive screen, I find it much easier using my iPhone rather than playing the game online with a mouse and can build up much higher scores using a finger to swap the gems around. I usually play the Blitz version of the game and these rounds are quick with them lasting only 60 seconds, I've never experienced any lag with the game, the iPhone is responsive to the touch and the clear display of the screen shows off all the bright colours without any problems. It's an easy game to understand but plays differently every time as the coloured gems are randomly placed on the board at the beginning of each round. If you like puzzler games then this is definitely one to check out, especially if you have a Facebook account and enjoy playing against your online friends.

The only downside with the Blitz version of the game is that it is played online so internet access is required, I use my Wifi at home to connect to the game and have unlimited broadband access with my provider so this isn't an issue for me but if you are given a data allowance each month by your own broadband company then the game could easily eat into what you get given. This isn't a reason not to get the download though, there are other versions of the game included in this release which don't require an active internet connection and each variation of the game shares the same attributes. The 'Classic' version of the game allows you to progress through increasingly difficult levels, the game works on the same principal as the Blitz version but you have to achieve a certain score to progress. 'Action' is the same but played a lot quicker and 'Endless' as the name suggests doesn't limit you to times or levels and simply allows you to build up a highest score that you can without running out of matches.

===Overall===

It's safe to say that I'm a big fan of Bejewelled 2 on the iphone and have played it every day since downloading it. My favourite variation is Blitz and since becoming a member of ciao and dooyoo I have befriended a number of fellow review writers on Facebook who I compete with each week, this application enables me to build up my scores against them and I enjoy the challenges it presents. It's a fun application, easy to play and passes on a bit of time and I have no complaints with it whatsoever and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who likes puzzle games.

My download cost 69p from the iTunes app store and is 19.9MB in size. It has had a recent update and is currently on the 1.5.5 version, it never lags and I have never encountered any bugs with it and is definitely recommended by me. Five stars as a rating as far as I'm concerned and a great buy at under 70p especially for the amount of time I have spent playing it. Thanks for reading my review.
