My friend had an iPad and brought it into work one day to show all as she was so excited about it. She had bought the talking Carl App and from the beginning it had us in hysterics! Basically it is an application which will record what is said and then say it back to you in a funny voice. Very simple, very childish but oh so much fun!! We decided to play a little trick on one of our colleagues and hid the iPad under some paperwork just before the briefing and set talking Carl to work. Our colleague come into the room and everytime she spoke, Carl repeted everything she said in the funniest voice. She had no idea what was going on, ... Read the complete review

Talking Carl is an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch, the application is a voice transformer and simply repeats what you say in a squeaky voice. My friend has an iPhone (I'd love one but saving all my pennies for travelling). I was at his house last night and he decided to download the Talking Carl application from the iTunes website, it appealed to him due to its bright colours and it was only 59p, we had nothing to lose! So once Carl had downloaded we opened his application, there was Carl this cute red square creature with two bulgy eyes. Carl looks very happy in his sunny little outdoor habitat, he doesn't really do much until you start to interact ... Read the complete review

Ive had this app for a little while now and when i bought it, it cost 59p and was near the top of the paid for apps, even now its still in the top ten which shows that it is a very popular app with 3131 ratings and a 4 star overall rating. I was unsure what excatly it was about until i bought it but i tend to buy the cheap apps if they appear to be quite popular just to see how good they are. Basically though, talking carl is a big red square thing with two big bulgy eyes who sits in the middle of the screen with a nice sunny outdoor scene behind him. All sounds very boring, and it is, until you start to play with him. You can poke him and tickle ... Read the complete review

I read about this iPhone app on the Guardian website and heard it was great for keeping kids entertained. At only 59p I thought I'd give it a try and I haven't regretted it. "Carl" basically records and repeats what has just been said to him, but with more or less the same effect on your voice as sucking in helium, i.e. higher pitched. It is most effective on someone who hasn't come across it before, who may wonder why you're waving your phone in their face, but once they speak and hear Carl repeat in a silly high pitched tone what has just been said, much hilarity ensues, as everything that is said/laughed for the next few minutes is ... Talking Carl is an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that lets you say things to it and then it will repeat them in a squeaky voice. It first caught my attention because its bright colours were popping out of the home page on iTunes. So I looked into it further, the reviews were pretty good so I thought for £0.59 I might as well give it a try. Talking Carl is very easy to interact with you simply say something into your iPhone or Touch (you'll need earphones with a mic for the Touch) and it will repeat is almost instantly after you've finished. You can also poke Carl in the eyes to make him yell "Awww" or you can drag his mouth ... Read the complete review
