“ Manufacturer: Streetview Labs / Type: iPhone Game „
I am not a big game player at all, that includes games consoles, games on my phone etc so my iPhone holds very few games. I came across this game 'Tap Store' when I was browsing the top 20 applications in the 'App store'. This game was free so I thought I had nothing to lose by giving it a go, so I downloaded it to my handset. The colourful pictures in the app's description was what caught my eye initially as it resembled the game 'The sims' which I like.
If I do play games, I like simulation games that relate to real life such as The Sims, Second Life etc and this seemed a similar concept where you had to build your own sucessful business. The aim of this game is to slowly build your little shop, as you are first presented with an empty space. You fill this space with tables to display your clothes on and storage boxes that you require to place your orders.
This game is quite interesting as it works on real time, you place orders for clothes and each order could arrive at different times for example the dresses arrive in 5 hours, t-shirts in 5 minutes and skirts in 24 hours. The important thing is to order strategically so that your shop is always stocked therefore allowing people to purchase the goods. You have animated women that come in and buy the items of clothes and as you get further into the game you can earn enough money to expand the business, buy more expensive stock, decorate your shop etc.
This game is quite addictive and as it's using real time you find yourself always checking to see when your orders are due to come in so you are able to put the items on display. As the game is based on real time, it means to get the best results you need to be able to log on regularly and keep up with the game. The problem is if you have to go on holiday then you'll just have to leave the game running and return to it when you get back, it will still be there you just won't have earnt any money during the time you are away from it.
I think for free, this is a great little app and for someone who isn't really a big gamer, this got me hooked! To improve on this they could update it to add more clothes options and other decorative features but they may do this in the future. I think it's a great game for kids and adults although I think the adults would enjoy it more for the business aspect of it and watching the profits grow. If only is was this easy in real life!
I am not a massive game player on my phone, I am a real girl when it comes to computer games and such, but this is one game that I actually like and I don't have to spend hours playing on it to get somewhere.
There are a few other games in this range like Tap fish (also pretty good), Tap farm, and Tap Resort. The only other one I have tried is Tap Fish, which I would also recommend.
This was free when I downloaded it, but I'm not sure if you have to pay for it now, it could have been an offer, but I don't imagine it's too expensive.
The game basically gives you a virtual clothing store. To earn coins you have to buy in items of clothing and put them on sale, in your shop. There are loads of other things you can do with your store too, you can buy decorations, change the walls and flooring and you can make it bigger by buying land with your coins, all while climbing the levels and getting more and more items of clothing unlocked to put out. You can also move anything in your shop around, so I find that quite interesting switching it all around every so often. I think the aim is basically to build up your coins and climb the levels, pleasing customers and keeping racks full of clothes.
Each item of clothing takes a different amount of time to arrive, which is a bit annoying but does at least add a bit of variety to the game. Some items take 2 or 3 hours to arrive and then you can put them out on any racks you have purchased, other items take 18 hours to arrive. They are also in different quantities. For example if you order the jeans they take 18 hours to arrive but you get 3,000 pairs to put out and each pair sells for around 12 coins I think.
There are loads of different options of racks, tables and decorations that you can buy, and they range in price greatly, I like the more expensive ones so it is taking me a while to get a lot of racks, but I'm getting there.
The only thing that I would say isn't that great about this game is that it does take a long time to build up enough coins to buy things like storage boxes to order clothes in and racks to put them out on. So it takes a while to get a big store going, which can be frustrating.
The good thing about this game is that it takes a few minutes every time I get a bit bored, I just log on to it and check my stock, order clothes if needed and put more clothes out if the racks are empty. Each level I climb means I get a new item of clothing added to my stock list available to order.
I really like this game, I enjoy changing my shop around and ordering different stock and seeing the varieties of clothes I can order. It is a good game that only take a few minutes when you feel like it to check up on everything and have a mess about with. I wouldn't say it was a high involvement game that you can spend hours on, but that works for me.
I would highly recommend this game. Especially if it's still free to download.
