	Asus Xonar D1 ... souncard market has never really been swamped with options. For those of us who don t use onboard sound and demand a seperate sound card for our sorround sound/gaming/music needs theres never been much choice. Most people go with Creative as they are well known and apparently respectable. I did just that a few years ago, it was a mistake. Their driver and customer support, especially for Windows Vista users is seriously lacking. 	Creative Sound Blaster Live! Platinum 5.1 ... bought my one of my PC s 4 years ago. The Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Platinum was the best sound card on the market back then. It cost 134$ and nobody wanted to buy one because they did not see the point in spending more money on an audio card. Anyway I spent 2500$ on the PC and another 134$ did not seem that bad. I had no idea what good it was. After installing it and plugging in a few speakers I felt reborn. There was no better sound card on the market. It produced crystal clear sound and the filters it had were superb! It even had a remote control so I could lay down in the other end of the room and change my music or videos! 	Digidesign Mbox 2 ... Mbox 2 is basically Digidesigns flagship interface and is sold as such. I bought this Mbox for college and am still using it in uni and without it I can firmly say I would not have passed my A-levels. The Mbox 2 can record two microphones at once and is expandable to be able to record 4 microphones at once if you have a separate mic preamp which can support S/PDIF. The microphone channels can also be used for DI by the pressing the button which is great for guitar. The Mbox is a very useful piece of kit because it can be totally powered from the USB port of any laptop and yet still managers to provide phantom power for condenser microphones.
